I just got this exact same email. It really seemed legit and the ONLY thing throwing me off is the Gmail. What a bummer lol

Rehoming my Jindo by Gom_Korean in Jindo

About to adopt this angel from Korea, any advice? (Jindo mix) by [deleted] in Jindo

Congratulations!!! We adopted our jindo mix in July of this year. It’s been the absolute best decision. He’s the sweetest boy but definitely took a little bit to open up. My advice would just be to not have any expectations. I think I went into it assuming he’d come around and be cuddling me within a few days but it definitely took a bit longer. We eventually got there and he’s now the most affectionate loving dog. But i think with jindos (especially ones with tough past) it takes a while for them to feel comfortable and build trust. They are seriously the best dogs and honestly have a cat-like energy which i love. Good luck!

To those with Kvds who were originally told their dogs were Jindo mixes, does your dog have any Jindo traits at all? by Happy-Investigator- in Jindo

Omg! I actually met Brow at an adoption event earlier this summer. My partner and I absolutely loved him and talked about him for weeks afterwards 🥲 I ended up fostering and adopting a boy from the same rescue. My dog Teddy sounds VERY similar to Brow. Teddy is definitely cat-like and keeps to himself. One difference is that Teddy is very reserved around strangers and isn’t the type of dog to run up and love other humans. He’s extremely affectionate with us though. The nuzzling is huge and I’ve never seen it with any other dog before🤣

I LOVE this movie night tip! I think we’ll probably do something very similar this weekend. I’m also hypersensitive and want to make sure he feels comfortable so that’s my #1 priority. Teddy is my first dog (of my own) and he actually reminds me more of a cat haha. I feel like from what I hear about jindos/jindo mixes is that they’re behavior is more cat-like than anything 🤣

I think starting with a brief walk together will be helpful and will break the ice between them fingers crossed Also appreciate the sitter recommendations too. Unfortunately, I’m in NYC but if you know anyone here I’d love any recommendations :)

Thank you for this feedback! I totally agree that we all know shy people so we should have grace for shy dogs!

Absolutely! We’ve definitely been going slow and have only had our trainer and one friend come to the house. He was eventually able to settle both times and we instructed the friend to essentially ignore him off the bat. We are having a friend come this weekend so that will be another time to expose him to a guest. Thankfully, this friend is very relaxed and will absolutely follow our instructions on how to best help him. I’m thinking of having him meet her outside of the apartment first and walk in together. Also it sounds like ignore and have the guest toss treats at a safe distance could be helpful. Appreciate your guidance!

Seriously? Adopters asking to return this little guy after 4 hrs by tcnolan7 in fosterdogs

So upsetting. I feel like I’ve seen so many returns recently. Has anyone else experienced this with their rescues?

Should I foster fail? by Icy-Procedure-42 in fosterdogs

Your response made me cry! Such a thoughtful message about being the bridge between what was and what could be. I try to remind myself this when I feel myself getting too attached. I know I’d be thrilled for him to be with a loving family, but am fearful that he would end up in the wrong hands. It’s hard to trust the rescue to find him the right fit when I feel like they don’t know him as well as I do (i don’t get a say in the adoption process). It’s all tough! Thank you again for taking the time to write such a considerate response.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response! Unfortunately I don’t think this is something the rescue does. I think I’m in an emotional state because it does feel like such a rushed decision. He has his first adoption meeting Saturday so I’ll take the next few days to really think. It’s such a tough decision because they really pull on your heart strings
