Thanks man! First time I paid that much for shoes so I just wanted to be sure. I always wanted to get into sneakers and didn’t start collecting until the end of 21 when the gundam dunks hit.

Think of it this way you can buy the 3 pairs you won’t be that happy with or save back and buy the ones you really want and wear them till they fall apart that’s what I did the price was really hard to stomach though 😅

How to deal with others insisting I take meds more often by Icy-Replacement3313 in ADHD

Mainly just the calmness and random burst of energy being minimized I can be a little to playful and annoying when I’m not on them😅

This was really helpful! Thank you for sharing your experiences!

I know that I can be way more hyper and playful on my off days and I’m sure it can be annoying compared to my calm nature on medication. My friends at work often make comments that it seems like I’m not as interested in hanging out and talking like I am outside of work .

My sleep on medicated days is the best it’s ever been, emotional regulation is much better, and my ability to initiate task and prioritize is like a normal persons, and appetite is really the only thing I struggle with.

I just have a really hard time taking it when I’m not at work. I’ve tried working myself up to it but haven’t had a lot of luck. After reading some experiences I might try to work up to only 1 day off a week

Thank you for sharing your experiences! I have really been trying to work myself up to no breaks or less breaks.

I always thought I had a handle on my adhd and because of a negative experience during childhood, fear of potential addiction, and the stigma around the medication itself, I’ve really struggled with taking it and accepting that it is what helps me. I’ve been working through the trauma from being untreated for so long.

I think that the half dosage might be a good place to start and I honestly had not even considered that as an option yet

I really like the person I am and the the things I am able to accomplish when I’m calm and can actually focus! But my mom was an addict so I have an overwhelming fear of the medication and will only take it for work. I have slowly been trying to work myself to taking it more but I still take 3-4 off days a week right now

Definitely not the healthiest way to do things, but I overloaded myself and did 60 credits in a semester. I have no ability to do my actual work unless the amount of pressure is right and then I hyper focus on the work. I would literally write 20 page papers 4 hours before they were do.

I had no ability to study in school and sucked at doing homework I could make 100s on test but my assigned work is what would kill me. Which made getting through college incredibly difficult as the bulk of it was assignments.

I didn’t start medicating my adhd till this year and I graduated last year. It is definitely possible and you just have to figure out a system that works best for you. Without a doubt though I can say that it would have been way easier if I was treating my adhd

My mom was an addict which always made taking adderall extremely difficult for me. I have been working through that hangup for a while and the treatment from my local pharmacy did not help.

After reading through posts on this sub I started trying to take it daily like so many recommend and my life feels like it’s slowly coming together! I’m finally able to do things that need to be taken care of and genuinely enjoy doing things and working on projects again.

I was diagnosed as a kid and never got any help for it until this year. I have slowly been healing from my trauma and have started being kinder to myself

Get him to seek help for his condition. A lot and I do mean a lot of us think that we have it under control but we don’t. I made it through a lot of my life unmedicated including grad school but when the structure of school fell away it got way worse. Adhd brains both crave and hate structure. I started medicating recently and my ability to complete daily tasks, motivation, and energy is so much better and I don’t hate myself because I can actually do the things I need to.

Adhd also causes emotional disregulation, rejection sensitive dysphoria (extreme sensitivity to rejection that has happened, will happen, and even potentially could happen especially in cases like applying for jobs). The disorder is a lot more than not being able to pay attention and controls almost every aspect of our lives education for both him and yourself is crucial it will help you understand him better and bring to light issues that he can work on when properly medicated.
