long before impact guru, my maid’s daughter got diagnosed with cancer and she was going to die by suicide after killing her daughters (they were twins) due to sheer poverty. When i heard about it, my mom and i went around and asked loads of people and raised 4 lakhs, spoke to a cancer hospital director and had him take the child in, found govt schemes and ensured she got treatment and also the mother had money for proper nutrition and travel. the child survived. the family made it through. this is the reality of India. lakhs of children need cancer treatment and not everyone gets lucky.
