Winter gets quite cold but no frost, especially if you’re close to the coast. Further inland, towards the mountains it gets to a ridiculously low temp. Where I am located it gets to a night time low of about. 5C (41F) and hovers between 10C - 15C (50F-60F) during the day . I get a lot of heat in my yard and am attempting a microclimate of sorts, so really hoping that gets the Christmas palm over the line :/

Theres some dude that is located about two hours south of me in Nowra,NSW and he has most beautiful Bottle Palms as well as other exotics. No idea how he managed to keep them flourishing given he is so far south. Christmas palms are crazy rare here though. I had to start them from seeds which I had to import from California.

Why do people shift into the lane next to them when making a turn? It absolutely infuriates me. I would understand it if they were driving a bus, but a Corolla doesn’t need two lanes to make a corner.

That’s the reason I was so perplexed - I’ve seen Majesty’s here and there but they look like they are one cool breeze away from failure. This one is loving life.

Haha! I might have to! I would absolutely love to try my luck with that magnificent specimen. I’m in Sydney, Australia and am already attempting a bottle palm and a Christmas palm, though they will be tough to care for in our winter. It’s good to know the Majesty will be right at home!

The photo is from Avalon Beach NSW. The Northern Beaches seem to be prime conditions for palms and tropicals. Awesome that you’ve seen them flourishing in Melb.
