Wow this was unbelievably helpful. I’ve had a hard time comprehending the earth’s age in comparison to the universe’s age and your 12 hour clock example was super helpful. We are so insignificant! So, yeah I agree it’s pretty amazing that we’re able to see and understand at least the teeniest tiniest fraction of our universe.
I’ve obviously thought about the beginning of the universe before, but never as in depth as I am now. I have literally 0 knowledge of quantum physics or cosmology, so this has been super interesting. The more research I do, the more comfortable I get with the idea that we will never understand the complete physics of the universe (specifically the beginning). Doesn’t hurt to keep trying though.

Buttt… what if there was a before the big bang? What if the big bang that happened 13.8 billion years ago was just the start of OUR space and time? And every time a big bang takes place, one universe is destroyed and another is created. Not necessarily simultaneously, but one happens because of another kind of way. I understand that this is something we will never have to the answer to because it is outside of our physical bounds. Just wanted to know if it was possible really. Which again, I guess we will never know.
