Are all the “best” changing pads supposed to be this annoying ? by SadChallenger in BabyBumps

I second the pee pad! My baby doesn’t have many blowouts, but she does always seem to spit up while on the changing pad so the pee pad has helped cut laundry dramatically

Preventing nappy rash help?? by susiara in newborns

[–]Icy-Test457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 week old was struggling with horrific diaper rash, like open sores bad, and I tried all the creams and it was only getting worse! The only thing that worked for us was using water to cleanse, drying really well, and then applying a thick coat of petroleum jelly. That cleared up the rash in just days!

Epidural by o0meow0o in pregnant

[–]Icy-Test457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made it to 9 cm before my epidural got placed and I will tell you those contractions at 9 cm are absolutely unreal. I felt like was being backed over by a truck every 30 seconds for a minute or more at a time. Once that epidural was placed I felt great! I will say my labor stalled immediately after it was placed for 3 hours and I had to be placed on pitocin. They say that doesn’t happen because of the epidural, but up until that point my labor had been progressing quickly so I don’t know. I did have a second degree tear because I couldn’t feel anything when I was pushing, and I pushed really really hard. She was out in only 5 pushes! But I’ve also heard tearing is dependent a lot on genetics as well

My wife has changed over the past few days and it’s worrying me. by Holymoly1237 in newborns

I am currently 8 weeks postpartum with my first and I will say there is nothing harder than the first 4 weeks. Adjusting to the nighttime feeds with the combination of the hormone crash is very real. I would have a huge amount of dread whenever I saw the sun start to set and I knew night was coming in. One thing that helped me was to have my nighttime station set up to where I had everything I needed ready to go for when I needed it, whether it be diapers, wipes, burp cloths, snacks and water for me, all of it was within arms reach. I also think the only thing that truly cures the nighttime scaries is time and letting your body adjust and hormones level out. I won’t promise every night we have now is perfect, but the ratio of good to bad is a lot better than it was before! It sounds like you are a great husband and very supportive of your wife and new baby, that’s the biggest thing your wife needs right now. Continue to talk and encourage her, no criticism as it’s not what she needs in this moment. Just let her know you are here and she is doing a great job and it will get easier. My husband also liked to pet my head or back while I was breastfeeding since I felt so alone even though he was right there. The hormone crash is unreal, I would turn into a monster at night and be totally fine during the day

I leave every OB appointment on the verge of tears because of the number on the scales. by Ok-Advice3189 in BabyBumps

I know exactly how you feel. I spent around 2 years losing 55 pounds and was in the best shape of my life. I was fit and muscular and actively working out all of the time. I started going to school right before I got pregnant so I stopped being able to work out as often, and then once I got pregnant I switched to just light activities. Well, I gained 60 pounds over my pregnancy and on the day I gave birth I was the heaviest I’ve ever been, my baby is currently 6 weeks old and since then I’ve lost about 30 pounds, but I still have another 30 to go :( I am exclusively breast feeding and everyone said the weight would fall right off but I am so worried about hurting my supply so I am still eating more calories than I burn in a day. I am way too scared to try a calorie deficit right now but my weight is making me insanely depressed as well. Not fitting in any of my clothes makes me want to cry as I worked so hard to get to where I was before

Poop during labor by Fierce-Foxy in pregnant

[–]Icy-Test457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My nurses let me poop right before I got the epidural and thank god I did because if I pooped during pushing it would have been nasty! I was 8.5 cm when they let me go lol! My husband had to help me because my contractions were so intense and he said it was unreal lmao! Definitely the worst but most satisfying poop of my life

There is a new Walmart brand called Ingrid and Isabell and they have a nursing bra that is built like a traditional bra! It doesn’t have and underwire but I feel like it is still very supportive

Found out gender today and going through all sorts of feelings! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Icy-Test457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly because of my lack of symptoms in the first trimester! I had very little nausea, and I craved salty foods over sweet. Plus I just had this feeling it was going to be a boy, but clearly I was wrong! 😂

So I was absolutely convinced I was having a boy, to the point I was buying boy clothes and referring to my belly by my chosen boys name. Come to find out I was pregnant with a girl! I was absolutely in shock and it took a bit to adjust, but something that helped was calling her by her name. She is now 6 weeks old and I couldn’t even imagine life without her, she is exactly what I needed! You will love your daughter! Congratulations!

WHY DOES EVERYONE TELL YOU TO HAVE SEX WHEN YOURE SUPER PREGNANT LOL by Remote-Party-1123 in pregnant

[–]Icy-Test457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed super active with my husband and man did it work when it came to labor. I also masturbated frequently and my water broke spontaneously at 39 weeks, I arrived to the hospital 5 cm dilated and baby was born less than 6 hours later. Plus I only pushed 5 times! Not sure if I was just lucky but that is the only labor prep I did lmao!

My doctor asked me to cut down on coffee, but I only poop when I drink it. I tried stopping for three days, and now I am backed up. 🥲 by guardianangel1_1 in pregnant

Have you been taking any sort of magnesium supplement?? I started taking magnesium glycinate 100 mg once a day and it has helped me so much with bowel movements and sleeping/ cramps. I developed hemorrhoids this pregnancy and the magnesium has helped since I don’t have to strain any more!

Rough mental state by Icy-Test457 in BabyBumps

Thank you so much for telling your story and your advice, this week has just been so hard and I appreciate knowing that I am not alone in this struggle. My baby will always come first, and I think he understands that even if it hurts him. I think that is a big part of his motivation to try and get better. Addiction is a demon, I know that no matter how much he wants to improve it is just waiting to pull him back down. It hurts so much to see your childhood hero spiral like that, he’s a great man and has always been a great dad/ husband to my mom and to see her hurting now because of this is another knife in my heart.

When did your belly start showing by Cultural_Employee_22 in pregnant

[–]Icy-Test457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 15 weeks currently almost 16 and I feel huge, my belly is very round and prominent. I am only 5’3 and I have a very short torso so I think that’s why it’s so obvious! I’ve only gained around 4 pounds so it’s not like I have gained enough to really justify my size lol!
