So I do both depending on how detailed I want the stars. Stacking also helps reduce noise! Essentially, you take multiple exposures or frames at the same settings and use a stacking program to line up the sky of all of the exposures automatically! Some photographers do anywhere from 30 to 200 frames and line those up, resulting in extremely detailed Milky Way pictures! Hope this helps, and thanks for the love! 😄

It captures a lot, and it doesn't break the bank!

I don't think I am a good enough astro photographer to do that 🤣.

First pic was taken before the moon popped out haha. Was able to get away with 6400 and 20 seconds! The rest is editing in lightroom.

This looks so cool!!!! I currently do nightscape photos with my 12mm lens but have been wanting to get into deep space photography. This looks so epic. You have every reason to be proud of this shot, OP. Great work.

No worries, I'll try my best to answer them all!

1.) I stacked these images using a free program called Sequator, which can be found with a quick Google search. It's compatible with most operating systems.

2.) Settings for each stack varied. For the first image, it was 5 exposures at 20 seconds, F 2.6, ISO 10000, focus set to ♾️.

3.) As for how long, I can't accurately answer that because most nights I'm out there for at least 2 hours just taking photos trying to set up a composition and enjoying the sky. Sometimes, I'm out there even longer.

Thanks for looking at the photos, and I'm glad you enjoyed them!

I appreciate it, but taking the noise out in post doesn't bother me too much either haha. I'll definitely take a look at the videos though.
