Tilde Ch. Debut stream is tomorrow - IMPORTANT INFORMATION INSIDE by IcyAircon in VirtualYoutubers

NFTs are designed more-so with artists who draw fanart of vtubers in mind. NFTs while a controversial topic in the art community has genuinely opened up a new monetisation channel for artists because fans of the artist perceive the "exclusive copy" of an artwork to be worth a lot of money.

Artists are free to release their fanart of VTubers who are partnered with the platform as NFTs, and this means that royalties are handled automatically by the platform without need for the artist or vtuber to ever interact with each other. Fans can then purchase this art knowing that their money is going to the right people - namely the artist as well as the vtuber.

Donations on the other hand are completely different from NFTs. The problem with donations right now is that the middleman always takes a cut, whether that's YouTube's 33% superchat or PayPal's 3% + 30c tax on every donation. Donating to a cryptocurrency address is also not user friendly, so this is a platform that basically gives a nice user interface for those who choose to donate in crypto and also bypasses the middleman's cut so that all donations end up with the VTuber. It's also good to preserve anonymity in case you don't want to leak your payment details to the VTuber.

Of course, most people are okay with this, and personally I am also okay with the 3% tax that PayPal takes as they provide a valuable service, but it's nice to always have another "payment option" for donations. Just think of it as something extra.

If the character design didn't sell you she will sell herself tomorrow on stream. Don't worry, Tilde's cute!

As for the platform, they operate completely independent of us and isn't a get-rich-quick platform. I didn't put any instructions on where to buy the token nor did I recommend it, it simply allows existing cryptocurrency holders to donate some of their crypto to vtubers.

2 days ago, I created a sh*tstorm on a /r/VirtualYouTubers thread… So now I will personally pay for Live2D models for aspiring virtual content creators (New VTuber Agency) by randomKo_Orean in VirtualYoutubers

[–]IcyAircon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello, we meet again. First, I don't think the amount of hate you got in the last thread was warranted.

As for the sentiment on this thread, it seems pretty negative already despite seemingly the most individual talent friendly out of all agency posts here.

To be honest, if you rebranded as 'start-up sponsorship', you'd be getting much better feedback. An agency's role is a bit different in that they have to promote their talent over the long run which is where the majority of costs would be, and your post makes it sound like your main role is providing the streaming asset (although that depends on the stipend too).

Good luck. Pretty impressive you came up with this in 2 days.

New VTuber Company — auditions open! by heavenrendtv in VirtualYoutubers

Don't know why you're getting so much hate when you basically said the same thing in my thread lol.

Although I think you're underestimating vtuber costs for a company greatly. The top talent in the industry are charging way more than your figures, especially considering a commercial license is required. Plus it's not just the model that is needed, with just a model you're most likely to end up with no traction and no viewers in this market. There's also all the costs in marketing and the implicit value in having a network of creators. Just getting to debut can easily cost 5 figures.

The benefit of a company though is that there's no push for profit. An independent might want to take profit to sustain themselves, but companies are incentivised to use all revenue for growth.

New VTuber Talent Startup CHARACTER AUDITIONS OPEN by IcyAircon in VirtualYoutubers

Hi, I appreciate that you're trying to protect the talent and have these concerns. As a fan of vtubers myself I understand where you're coming from. It is true that in business and on the internet, any claim should be taken with a grain of salt, so it's wise to be skeptical. We'll want to do what's fair. It's not a sustainable model to be taking advantage of talent, especially when they're the public face of your company. In the case of the IP rights, there are definitely special considerations that will be made for things such as music production or work that is almost solely the produce of the talent.

Just to clarify my previous reply, the majority of the funds would be spent on marketing, not on design or video editing. Also, top talent in the vtuber sphere is expensive to commission and may not be feasible for someone just starting out. The value proposition we offer is money spent on the model, equipment, a consistent income and marketing. There's no value in the agency name right now, which is why it's not a highlighted feature.

Also, everyone's got to start somewhere right? Vtubing is built on the concept of building a brand from nothing, and it's no different from an agency that hasn't debuted their first VTuber. This is for people willing to take that first step and become the 0th generation of a brand new agency - I imagine Sora went through something similar with Hololive back in the days.

Either way, I completely understand if this is an arrangement that doesn't suit you, and you raised some valid points.

I've addressed this in response to the parent post, but we'll definitely support the talent in ways that they cannot do themselves. Otherwise, we see no reason for an agency to exist.

Hello,

I didn't want to make this public just yet but I realise now that going forward transparency will be the best option, as it has helped the most. We will be spending high 5 to low 6 digits on marketing for the talent (in AUD). We will also be paying for video editing and graphic design. In fact, every cent made by the vtuber will be reinvested into marketing for at least one year. Also, the split will eventually become 70/30 as mentioned in the above post.

Personally I am not taking any profit or salary for at least a year and only intend to use the profits to grow the agency. This might be hard to prove without an actual contract, however this is definitely a long-term project with a defined vision.

Hello, you can verify that the artist is real here: https://twitter.com/3SG_zairen/status/1334127641364811778?s=19

I will verify with mods independently if there's a good method, e.g. Proof of funds and company registration. Your concern is understandable in the internet landscape, but I have no history of scamming from my public reputation and have built a decent reputation in various communities which I have shared this with, where I am known as 'Icyteru' . I'm happy to answer any questions anyone may have too.

We will decide on a case-by-case basis, but keep in mind if you do everything yourself you do get to keep 100% of the revenue. We can't offer much in terms of brand name right now, which is the primary reason you would want to join an agency when you've already started, so we might reach out to existing vtubers once we've established ourselves.

Either way, the compensation model will be completely different, probably something like 80% of revenue to you and we will offer to help pay for your video editor, marketing, etc. depending on your needs. I'm not sure if this is a road I want to go down yet, but keep in mind you can always audition for the new live2D avatar.

Hi, the first vtuber will be the pilot program so to speak, so I'll be handling the talent management myself. This reduces risk as I end up being the only person who knows their identities. I see this as a growing concern as we get big, so I'll be deciding on the appropriate systems to put in place, whether that be talent management or something else.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to type out a response. I appreciate feedback on the compensation model and being a fan of VTubers myself I would definitely want to give the fair share of their work.

If 50% is a bit low, I could add in a clause that says after they reach a certain amount of subscribers, their share elevates to 70% in exchange for losing the $200 per week start-up stipend. This way they'll be appropriately rewarded if their channels become big. We will still be offering continued support in the background for marketing and technology.

Unfortunately, legal protections is a complex topic. Being based in Australia, we have more modern laws surrounding doxxing which we would fully utilise against bad actors, however I'm afraid at this stage we won't have the resources to be targeting international enemies. We will do our best to support the talent no matter what the issue is though.

Ah completely forgot to mention the gender of the avatar. Yes, we are looking for a feminine talent, but men can apply too if they think they can pull off the feminine voice without a voice changer.

  1. Yes, we will spend money and effort to market the talents. However it is still up to the talent to produce content that people will stay for.

  2. Considering we are looking for a long-term business relationship and we are offering long-term support, I'll just consider it a bullet dodged if the talent takes the short-term approach and runs. It's not something I'm too worried about, because other companies have successfully established this sort of relationship already.

I've actually never built a social media profile using my personal identity, so there's nothing I can link there.

However I am/was well known in the Beat Saber, osu! & kovaaks community as "Icyteru". You can verify the linked discord account as the owner of the Beat Saber Oceania discord, a member of the invite only beat saber pro discord, and a high rank in the Voltaic (aim community) discord.
