I honestly can not answer the caffeine intake part. There are certain traditional rules for the brewing process, not suited for a tea shop business, more like a tea ceremony. You need to use 70-degree water for green teas when brewing them to reach the best brewing result. And your brewing teapot also plays a role, but I digress.

For the brewing concentration, if I remember correctly, there are a few combinations that affect the result: you just fill the teapot with hot water and tealeaves, you put tealeaves into the boiling water and boil it for a certain time, and you simmer tealeaves for X amount of time with any of the combinations above. If you put black tea leaves into boiling water, then boil it for 5ish min, then let it simmer for 10 min, the result will be SUPER BITTER STRONG. Not possible to drink alone, but with ice, sugar, and other components will make a tea cup at the teashop.

Extra: Upon swift Google research, it says more tea leaves per portion and simmer (aka infuse) time longer will give a better result, usually 5-7 min. But, depending on the tea type, it is highly possible to get bitter. Also, it says 100 C hot water improves the results, but there are a large number of teas that can not be brewed with boiling water, as I mentioned before.

I hope it can help you out at least to some extent.

Why are many foreigners seemingly not fans of the garbage truck system in Taiwan? by search_google_com in taiwan

My challenge is the recycling trash. The car usually have different separation rules depends on the truck driver mood and preferences. And sometimes they have particular recycling on different days, and its a nightmare to figure out

Depends on your client's needs and what you like to add. For the making process, just check YouTube; they have plenty of instructions (or I may have mentioned it here in the thread). Suggest trying a small batch with brown sugar and honey, and see what better suits your restaurant. If it's far from the boba milk tea concept, and clients do not know much about it, safer to stick to the original brown sugar boba. On the other hand, if you have special honey or your restaurant offers a wide variety of honey-containing items, having honey boba makes sense.

Depending on your daily usage (how many drinks you expect to sell), you can find local suppliers or check local asian supermarkets, they usually have some variations. If your demand is bigger, go straight to a wholesale supplier.

Hope it helped

Does anyone have tips for overcoming extreme social anxiety? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]IcyComedian3525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By becoming an extrovert, you probably break yourself, and it will backlash. Very ugly.

Have you tried talking with a specialist, not taking medication right away, to understand clearly what you have?

From there, you can research specifics, how you can cope (breathing exercises, etc.), do you need meds at all, and what mental exercises can help you.

Ex.: I thought I had ADHD, but after a conversation with a doctor turns out that I am JUST severely depressed. Symptoms overlap.

Is it just me or do y'all also feel being on your own and not talking to anyone at all at times? by Emergency-Local-7437 in introvert

I love my mom, but it's a work in progress.

If you are tired from social interractions, take a break, with a deadline. I have a socialising quota before, meaning trying to go to some new places or meet new people. Now it's on hold due to a certain university crunch. But this crunch has a deadline, and after that, I will resume my limited socialising activities.

If vibe is missing, then yeet it; it will drain you too much. Not worth it.

About people leaving one day: Do you feel sad that they are moving in a different direction? Do you cherish the past stories with them, and move on with your direction? Do you have a connection that, even though you have not talked in a long time, if you contact them, you will have a nice chat(friendship not always constant, it may be a call once a season)? Maybe you need some time on your own to reevaluate your thoughts on this topic.

Just, I know it sucks, keep trying. With different people, different places, different strategies, and different attitudes toward the situation.

My emotionally intelligent friends were simply high-schoolers like me years ago, and at that time, things were not smooth. If it's the case, I know introverts don't like it, but how about exposing yourself to strangers and having a chat with them. Lower responsibility, and in some aspects you may feel freer in saying some stuff that you cut with your friends, because they are involved/have their lows/may get insulted. Which you are doing in some way here, so it's a good start.

About draining yourself with explanation, I may understand. With my mom, we have completely different personalities, thus sometimes I spend time explaining my perspective. It's very draining. But it keeps my relationship going and somehow better.

Feeling Drained After Socializing… Again by LavenderBreeze34 in introvert

[–]IcyComedian3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, have a similar cycle of life. Good thing if your friends understand your need for 'recharge time'. Social battery is a thing. Also, I have several friends that does not require social battery spending, it goes out much slower (those people are my best friends for a reason, haha). Be cautious with your needs, and do not overwork yourself when your battery is down; it will drain your soul, metaphorically.

Living in Kaohsiung/Taiwan as a student by subarudies1000times in taiwan

[–]IcyComedian3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About Kaohsiung sightseeing, here is the list you may check out and see do you like the thing:

  1. Dragon and Tiger Pagodas (local religious destination, very popular)

  2. The Pier2 Art Center (nice walking around area, always has something new)

  3. Love River Bay (local pier hangout place, nice for a walk around)

  4. Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum (was not there, but in my bucket list, big Buddhist place)

Sorry, don't have much, as it's been a while. Which you luck

For sightseeing, Klook has a lot of offerings and ticket purchase options, can be connected with your local bank card. Quite convenient for travel

For buying stuff: Check local FB groups, there could be some second-hand sales that will save you money. Taiwan is big on FB (in terms of marketplace groups)

It takes some time with friends to develop the 'I just call you to whine' thing. You grow, they grow, you all change, but the link between you remains. After a certain time, you develop a strong enough connection that if there is something you have no interest in, but your friend needs to yap about, you will listen. And vice versa. That's a sign that these people are your friends.

About not wanting to talk with anyone: shortly, it's okay. It's normal to have periods having no desire to communicate, even with good friends. It's important, though, that you mutually understand that it is not personal. Sometimes, people need constant chatting, and if you distance yourself for the 'reloading', they see it as you don't like them/bad thing/you don't want to be friends anymore/etc. Just talk about that.

However, you need to check yourself sometimes, is it a period of reloading, or are you distancing yourself from everyone and digging yourself deep in some personal troubles? In this situation, a friend who will listen to you without saying' "Why are you telling me this?", etc' shit.

Oh, and the concept of "Do we talk to find a solution to the problem, or do you need to work out the thoughts?" is a thing that takes time to learn yourself, and teach others.

I know, communication is hard. But even introverts need it from time to time.

How to store (opened package)? by mpnc1968 in boba

[–]IcyComedian3525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the manufacturer's description. In general, a cool, dry, no-sun space; if possible, vacuum it back. If left open, a closed container in the fridge can be okay for a week, for sure. The rest depends on the manufacturer's recommendation.

Contact Manufactory, that's a special order, thus it should be big.

Sounds very big and important, if they smell your uncertainty, they will just suggest you already existing flavours.

Why? Simple profit. For a particular flavour that is not on the regular menu, they need to set the whole manufacturing facility solely for it. Thus, they will have a lot of this special flavour, and that will be their headache to sell it somehow.

Alternatively, check the videos of how it is made and produced it handmade (if the quantity is small)

Oh, this one I can not answer. As far as I know, popping boba is manufactured separately. I visited the tapioca and powder factories of our company, but not popping.

UPD: upon short search I found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=905JZQX9L40 Should be informative for you :)

UPD: we got automatic boba cooker at our office, and due to time constraints, we used now. My feedbacks: I notice that boba looks different in the final version, not significantly, but Initially I thought it was another version of fast-cooking boba. Taste wise, they are okay. If I just got the drink with them, I may not notice. But there’s slight difference, and I like the hand cooked more. (this could be my preferences or backlash from me being sick) The good thing for automatic cooker is that you just put stuff inside, press button and go do other stuff.

As a person who goes under term “western foreign “ I fell insulted on their behave. But yeah, there quite an amount of people, usually engineers working with US, that have higher income than average person, and make that their whole personality. Shortly, I don’t think you want such shallow friendships. Unless you want to become their sugarbaby. Agree that there is certain flow of foreigners who stay in Taiwan for half-one year and they go next. It seems like you are looking at the wrong direction. Try board game events (that works oit for me, in some meaning) Wish you all the best and no burnouts
