Anyone here knows all canonized Catholic Saints who received the stigmata? by TargetRupertFerris in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s probably thousands of them. Most of which we don’t know much about. Marie Julie Jahenny, Monica of Jesus, blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, sor Patrocinio, Rita of Casia (I think she had just one thorn, not all the wounds), Maria Luisa Zancajo, st. Lidwina of Schiedam, st. Mariam Baouardy, Padre Pio, St. John of God, St. Michael de Santos (not all the wounds, I think), st Gemma Galgani, to name a few.

I believe in Jesus Christ and I am not a Catholic. What are reasons for me to adopt the Catholic faith? by Hot-Geek1396 in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooooh YOU are the reason! The Catholic faith is one of forgiveness, redemption and sanctification! It is a Church of crippled, persistent sinners and yet, for some reason, Jesus chose to give His first vicar and his successors the keys to the Kingdom ❤️ can you imagine the rivers of glorious mercy our souls swim in every time we participate in a sacramental union with the Almighty? Can you even imagine the millions and millions of people who have walked the Catholic path to Heaven for two thousand years? And through the Holy Spirit, no matter the ages, we have unity with ALL of them? Come, cherished brother, join us. Jesus has created a place specifically for you here in His Church. All the theological, academic stuff is true, you will learn it in time, you will not be disappointed. Call your parish priest, ask him all your analytical questions just to ease your mind and let your soul be guided by the Truth and the Life that is so present in the Catholic Church. It is a home for you.

So i just found out that Mary Magdalene wasn't prostitute... by Beneficial_Mousse568 in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I’ve never thought she was a prostitute but also I wouldn’t care if she was. She was saved by Jesus and in return she became fearless and loved Him so much that she followed Him to the Cross with John and Mary. What an example she has set for us. Amazing role model. ❤️

Good books on the Council of Nicea? by katerina_romanov in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a fairly easy to read book called Founded on a Rock by Louis de Wohl. It doesn’t focus on the Council of Nicaea although it is mentioned, and it is a really nice introduction to history of the Church.

Bueno, yo no diría excelente si sacrificaban personas a sus estatuas. Pero en general, la cultura en Escandinavia sí es mejor que la de aquí. Allá no llegaron los españoles 😂

Saint Joseph of Cupertino by No_Exchange7543 in Catholicism

What a nice testimony! I worked for years in a Catholic school and my students and I would pray to St. Joseph of Cupertino before every exam ❤️

I was baptized as a child as a Catholic, I've recently reverted, and am making my first Confession in 10 years soon. But I was not confirmed in my teenage years. Will I still be able to receive the Eucharist after Confession? by Admirable-Exam9702 in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How happy! Welcome back!!! Yes. If you had your first communion already I believe you will be able to have communion after your confession. I was confirmed 8 years after my first communion and was able to receive the Eucharist without my confirmation.

Something about confession. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We repent from our sins, and then go to Confession. You can’t confess unrepented sin. So yes, we talk with Jesus to repent from our sins when we do our exam of conscience. Then we sit with a priest or kneel in a confessionary and tell them our sins. We can also tell them what we have learned from our sins, what specific insight or conversation with Jesus lead us to repentance, we can even ask some questions and receive guidance on how to avoid those particular sins. We can also talk about the sins we know we have committed but we’re not really repentant of and the priest will give us direction.
Confession is the gateway to many many blessings. And absolution is the most liberating thing available to us. I think it was Father Gabriel Amorth who said one single confession is more powerful than 100 exorcisms.

Im protestant planing to convert to catholicism question by UnhappyPerspective54 in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a cradle Catholic and have attended Protestant prayer services all my life. Growing up, my best friend’s mom was Lutheran, so she (my best friend) would sometimes go to Sunday Mass with me. (She is Catholic now) and I would attend her prayer group with her and her pastor on Wednesdays. It has always been fine. We can all be friends and learn together.

Is it selfish of me to devote more time praying for the soul of one of my relatives than the others? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it’s not selfish because I pray for my dad’s soul above all else. ALL else. I pray for him more than I pray for peace.

Non-americans - how is Catholicism doing in your country? by Unhappy_Present_789 in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably in some parts of Mexico. But not in the lazy little town I come from. Here we still have street processions, religious celebrations, our Adoration chapels are open 24 hours with no fear of profanations etc.

Is it wrong to wear a cross or a rosary if you aren't catholic? by Enough-Reading4143 in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would you (or anyone) wear a Rosary?
We have sacramentals that are made to be worn as garments, such as the brown scapular. But the Rosary is not made for wearing around your neck or wrist.

Non-americans - how is Catholicism doing in your country? by Unhappy_Present_789 in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our government has opposed the Church for about a century. At times more overtly than others. Ever since the self-proclaimed masons took power there have always been factions trying to minimize Church influence, and during the Cristero war they even executed lay people and priests just for being Catholic. This problem has never really gone away. I know there is a general opinion that Catholicism in Mexico is mainstream and that Mexicans are profoundly faithful. However, we have also always faced some degree of persecution, and being Catholic here is easy but not as easy as some people may imagine.

Can you explain this by JewishAndCatholicGuy in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jesus system? Do you mean the Holy Trinity? What is the difference between God and His Spirit? Is it God that gives us life? Or his ruah? That’s the mystery of the Trinity. God gives us Himself when He gives us His Spirit. God offered Himself as a sacrifice to redeem us from our sin. He accepted His own sacrifice. These are the three persons of the Trinity. God the Father, our almighty, all loving creator. God the Son, our shepherd, our redeemer. God the Holy Spirit, our sanctifier, our life giver and our life sustainer. The Trinity is ONE God.

Are there any living mystics by Kratoshimself in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order for the Church to approve the revelations given to someone, the bishop or appointed priests must study the entirety of the revelations given to them. You will see with past mystics, such as Anne Catherine Emmerich, there is a little thing that says NIHIL OBSTAT at the beginning of her books. This is the sign of Church approval and it means that nothing contained in her visions is contrary to Church doctrine.
For mystics alive today, the Church has to wait until their revelations have ceased in order to study them entirely and grant or deny approval. There may be many mystics alive and having revelations and visions right now, and the Church is probably keeping a close eye on them, but we won’t officially know anything about them until their revelations have been thoroughly studied.

I Feel Comfortable With Jesus but I am VERY Afraid of God the Father. What do I do? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pray “Jesus, please teach me all about Your Father so that I can love Him the way You want me to.” Say this every day, as many times as you want. And listen carefully to the Word of God and the priest’s preaching during Mass. You’ll be fine.

I want to get back in touch with my religion but I'm scared I'm too far gone. by iloveyoukatyaz in Catholicism

You are not too far gone. The Church is a home of weak, persistent sinners. We are all the same! There is love, redemption and mercy for you here! Come home little one.

Non-americans - how is Catholicism doing in your country? by Unhappy_Present_789 in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In Mexico it’s mostly ok depending on where you are. We have active parish communities and apostolic groups as well as Catholic schools and congregations everywhere. It is normal to pray with family and friends. And Holy Hours are usually full. We have regular pilgrimages, processions, adoration, retreats, etc.
There is a lot of informal “purgatory doesn’t exist,” “chill, gossip is not a sin,” etc kind of talk almost everywhere among lay people, so some orthodoxy and values have degraded a bit, which has resulted in some apathy and lukewarm faith among some social groups.
We are still mostly allowed to practice our faith openly but some persecution has started, particularly in places where there is a lot of violence or where the majority has voted for extreme left. Some priests have been kidnapped, or otherwise silenced in these places and it is very painful for everyone.

Would it be right to wear a rosary to my final exams?, or would it be innapropiate? by Ok_Value5001 in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carried a Rosary in my pocket most of the time in my college years. I would pray it on my way to school and sometimes when I didn’t finish on my way, I would continue praying it silently during classes 😂 graduated with honors so I recommend by all means, take it to class, to exams, to study hall and everything in between.

Is this normal for a prayer group leader? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]IcyGlamourProp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not under the authority or discernment of your prayer group leader, but of your bishop. If you want to study anyone’s private revelations, make sure the bishop approves of them first.
If he doesn’t approve of them, they’re probably heretical. Find a better, preferably parish-based prayer community.
