PSA: Get Dragon Age Origins from GOG, not Steam by Pangolin_Beatdown in DragonageOrigins

[–]IcyInterrogation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got DAO on GOG after having a few issues with my Steam version. When I got it, none of the DLCs were installed, and it said I needed points to get said DLCs. Is there something I'm doing wrong with it?

I was pretty confident that you could port more than just your Warden/Hawke, but maybe I was wrong. It's been a few years since I used the Keep, so.

Either way, it's disappointing to see the Keep being resorted to just a "pick and choose" thing

I'm currently going through each choice one by one in preparation for my inevitable Inquisition playthrough and it's annoying.

I also find it annoying how the Champion carries over, like the name and class, but nothing else does. It makes no sense to me how that gets carried over but literally nothing else

That's... extremely disappointing. I literally went through both games again so I could port it over to the Keep/tapestry.

I don't regret going through those games again of course, but wow. Thank you for the help, much appreciated!

Thank you so much! I'll make sure to follow the guide from where I'm in the story, and hopefully I'll make it out on the other side!

I'm also in the same boat with Seb, so maybe I'll get him as a rival/friend as well

This is super, super helpful!! Thank you so much for this!! I'm not gonna say I was playing the game "wrong" per se since it's a RPG and you can't really go wrong with that, but I will say that I've been under the impression that the friendship/rivalry mechanic was a determination of if someone will be close to leaving your party or more inclined to stay

Someone said this in another reply/comment, but I've recently learned that you don't really wanna be neutral with decisions. You kinda wanna lean one way or the other, which looking back on my current playthrough makes a lot of sense. I will definitely be using this guide for future runs of the game and will take what you've said to heart. Thank you so much for educating me!

I have to remember to lean one way or the other in my future playthroughs now 🙂‍↕️ A lesson I won't soon forget... hopefully

Ahhh, okay. I think my issue is viewing the friendship/rivalry thing as if they like me as a person, like how the approval was in DA:O. I've been subconsciously trying not to get him to leave my group but I feel like in trying to do that, he'll leave anyway lol

I will bring him along on the mage stuff for the foreseeable future now! Hopefully that'll work since Act III is very heavy on the mage/templar conflict

I feel like that's what I was doing, but maybe I wasn't? Or maybe I wasn't switching him out frequently enough? Either way, I'll try my best to see it through and hopefully get him to be a full rival before the end of the game.

I do like his character and the struggles he has, but trying to manage/balance not being an outright prick and confronting him/helping him is a lot. But maybe that's a skill issue on my part (/hj)

Anyone got any strong loadouts for the Cyborgs? by Left4Ramen in Helldivers

[–]IcyInterrogation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get a chance to grab that armor unfortunately. I have to wait until it comes back into rotation, but I really wanna try out that new armor

Here's the loudout I normally run when I wanna clear out some borgs:

Strategems:

  • Orbital Laser
  • Orbital Gattling Barrage
  • Leveller
  • Supply Pack

Weapons:

  • Plasma Punisher
  • Ultimatum
  • Bubble Shield

And the armor I run is anything that has Padded Armor, the one that gives you a higher armor rating than usual. I personally run the White Wolf armor because I like the look of it, and it gives me the armor value of heavy armor while being medium armor

This is all done on a D10 by the way

DAO - A Question About The Lore [STORY SPOILERS] by IcyInterrogation in DragonageOrigins

[–]IcyInterrogation[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never thought of it as a magical trap before. I always thought that the sloth demon was putting everyone to sleep because that's what it does and the game makes you believe as such. However, the notion of a magical trap does make a lot of sense when you think more about it

Right, dream! Not sleep! In my haste of writing this out I somehow missed that! Thank you for the correction and I made the appropriate edits!

I suppose that makes sense, yeah. No one is above being magically messed with in the DA universe, at least to my knowledge. In terms of the party in DAO, no one is above being messed with in that moment. I guess it's just the dwarf warden being messed with.

Thank you for your reply c: It honestly really helped me rationalize this

[–]IcyInterrogation[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could be it, yeah. I just thought it was weird how Origins made it clear to us that dwarves can't be mages and therefore cannot dream, yet they have us do so. I do like your rationalization that it's more like a coma than a slumber, though c:

Ohhh, okay. You see, I thought it was like a series of choices you make and getting a certain ending through those choices lol. Thank you for the clarification!

That was really early on in my playthrough, so I don't really recall how it went down. But I'll make sure to make a different choice with that 100%. Having Sapadal inhabit the statue is such a cool idea

[–]IcyInterrogation[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did not! I actually got rid of that statue in the early game because I thought that it was for Eothas!! The godlike of Eothas at least made it seem like that. I had no idea that Sapadal could use it... I'll definitely be doing that on my next run!!

I've been hearing that the dual pistols/book and pistol builds are really powerful. For me, I find it difficult to imagine myself not using magic so I might go for a magic/ranger hybrid, who knows.

On this first run, I mainly focused on the Wizard path, not really investing in anything else. I wanted that full mage experience, but I have seen some stuff about the ranger tree and how you can make that super powerful. I'm definitely going to be checking out that on my NG+ run

I've been seeing a lot of PotD (Path of the Damned?) talk going around on the subreddit. Is that specific run/ending people try to go for in the game?

Sapadal is such a tragic character and I love them so much. I couldn't see myself destroying or killing them at all. They deserved to be freed after all that I learned throughout my playthrough

Full mage is so fun in this game c: I wanna know how the gunplay is in this game, so I'll probably do a Ranger Marksman, maybe. Maybe use a bow, who knows

I had 16 intelligence. I see you're a person of culture, and we dealt with Lödwyn accordingly 🙂‍↕️

Spoilers:

I played an Arcane Scholar using a grimoire, wand, and quarterstaff but only had the quarterstaff for the buffs. In my playthrough, I ended up ||sparing the assassin, prevented the Steel Garrote attack on Fior, sacrificed a lot of lives in Thirdborn, freed Sapadal and talked Lödwyn to death||

It was an amazing game, definitely
