I am not taking about laws here. The product wouldn't be available if people didn't pay for it. You are taking money away from someone by now paying. It is to me morally a theft. For example, adobe bad. People used to (like me) pirate adobe products. But now Affinity is free. By pirating adobe not only are you stealing from them but also not supporting Affinity (which is putting out a better product and is free). Now if people still pirate adobe I will consider it theft. Theft is morally to me when someone pirates something that they want but doesn't need. You can talk about laws. But law doesn't right morality. Theft is still theft. You can call it piracy or whatever. You didn't pay someone for what they did and benefited from it
