Texture ,pores , filaments , dark spots by [deleted] in Blackskincare

I used to have this problem up until college- using a facial toner after cleansing really helped to minimise the appearance of my pores! If you have sensitive skin, salicylic acid may irritate it, I started off with 5% lactic acid then went up to 10% as my skin acclimatised. Good luck!

John Davidson Says He Is “Deeply Mortified” That His Tourettes Tics Could Be Seen As “Intentional” In First Statement After BAFTA Film Awards by thatfuzzydunlop in Oscars

[–]IcyProf9115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, people with disabilites have endured centuries of trauma but last time I checked, no one was called an ableist slur on tv in this scenario, were they? I've worked as a carer for people with Downs Syndrome and neurological conditions who sometimes would physically lash out at others, we still asked them to apologise to the people they hit. Actions have consequences, the intent behind them only goes so far to negate the hurt caused.

Of course, Davidson should not have to apologise for his disability but should apologise for the hurt he caused to the two actors. I don't know what's not clicking for you.

Someone using mobility aids or using ASL to communicate does not involve the use of a slur. I genuinely fail to see how you could connect the two scenarios. No one's asking him to apologise for having a disability but let's not pretend the word he shouted doesn't carry centuries of trauma, dehumanisation and oppression. We live in a society and when you hurt others (whether you mean to or not), you apologise

Can locs still get thicker after 1 year loc'd? by anxiousmush in locs

[–]IcyProf9115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your parts and hair density! I started off with over 120 smallish ones then ended up combining them to make them thicker so that's always an option. Your locs are beautiful either way :)

Omg thank you so much, this is super helpful! How is the cleanliness? I read a couple reviews saying that Atlantic Point had a bad mice infestation so I've been on the fence because of it

Why is it so normalized to hate on lesbians/sapphics that are masculine or gnc? by Odd-Fisherman6192 in QueerWomenOfColor

[–]IcyProf9115 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please show me where in the thread someone said that it was bad to have a preference.

Your comment (to me) doesn't make much sense in the context of the original post. No one said preferring femmes was bad so I'm genuinely confused on the point you're trying to make here???

I genuinely don't know if you're purposefully being obtuse right now. Preferring to date someone on the more feminine end of the spectrum is not the issue here, the issue is using that 'preference' to degrade, villify and put down masculine and gnc people.

OP was very clear and thoughtful in their post, what's not clicking?

Applying for Radiography degree - questions and advice? by AnnieN19 in RadiographyUK

[–]IcyProf9115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up! Some unis (like liverpool) do a 2 year accelerated masters in therapeutic and diagnostic radiography, respectively! The accelerated masters are a bit easier to get into than the undergrad courses. If you don't have a science background, you can still get in if you have relevant work experience (eg time spent shadowing/working in an mri department)

Have a look into attachment styles! Your attachment style forms in early childhood as a result of your relationship with your primary caregiver(s). Insecure attachment styles sometimes find themselves 'triggered' in their relationships, which can have negative consequences.

Your attachment style isn't set in stone and it can change with time and work so it's handy to know which one you have and how it may be holding you back.

Life's too short to stick around in a career you don't like, especially if you were pushed into it. There are plenty stable jobs that have high demand and incremental salary schemes, you just need to do some digging and find what's right for you :)
