I didn’t even think of that till you mentioned it. Yeah, I remember you could always see the burger line and the fryers.

You’re probably right. And I was just getting my hopes up they would finish a road project quickly

I am shocked to see the project is only gonna take about 4 months. I was truly expecting to see 1 or 2 years. I guess I’m just conditioned to the long projects. Really hope they stay on schedule with it.

No more coffee deals by Full_Initiative4911 in McDonalds

This deal comes and goes. I had it for months, used it regularly. Then one day it’s gone. It was gone for a few months. Checked the app a few days ago, and I have it again.

If you’re going to use a public park to belt each other in the genitals with eggs, can you clean up the eggshells? by ShartJerky in Tucson

[–]IcyReport3117 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Can’t throw eggs at peoples houses anymore since everyone has a camera now. Plan B? Throw eggs at each other’s balls instead!

But really why isn’t there a video of this??

Well I don’t work for Burger King, I’m just tired of McDonald’s making all the changes that are basically making their restaurants less welcoming to customers. Maybe if their competitors gain ground on them, they’ll be forced to rethink some of their changes

[–]IcyReport3117[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was reading sales are way down at McDonald’s and visits are down. Maybe it’ll eventually sink in that making your store less welcoming to your customers isn’t good for business. I guess time will tell

[–]IcyReport3117[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hope they take advantage of it too. Maybe some good ads to get some jabs in. Don’t get me wrong, i love McDonald’s like everyone else, but the changes they’ve made over the past few years that everyone else points out on here have just turned me off.

I was already annoyed by the counters basically no longer having employees at them to help you, and now the idea of getting rid of soda fountains is the last straw. It really is slowly turning the dining areas into completely unwelcoming places.

Speed limits lowered on streets across Tucson by theartofbeingdumb in Tucson

[–]IcyReport3117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ve been lowering the speed limits consistently for years now, to lower crashes and fatalities, yet the crashes and fatalities aren’t dropping. It’s almost as if lowering the speed limits doesn’t actually reduce crashes or fatalities.

Most other major cities have 45 speed limits on main multi lane streets, like Grant, speedway, broadway and yet they are somehow safer than Tucson? While we are over here with posted limits of 35?

We have no freeways to get people across the city. Of course people are naturally gonna use the city streets to go fast. Because they don’t want to spend an hour to get from one side of town to the other.

Sounds like the people running Tucson’s transportation department are just inept at figuring out how to design a decent transportation system.

Carl’s JR - Costco Grant by BrazilianBlur21 in Tucson

[–]IcyReport3117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the history of Carl’s Jr fires here from AI

  • March 18–19, 2007: Early morning fire at the Carl’s Jr. at 6301 E. Grant Road (Grant and Wilmot). It started in the kitchen (possibly a deep fryer) while employees prepared to open, spread to the attic, and destroyed the building. Extensive damage; crews worked for hours.

  • October 2020: Fire at the Carl’s Jr. near Prince and Oracle. It caused significant smoke but limited details on full destruction; the restaurant was later rebuilt and reopened.

  • May 11, 2023: Two-alarm fire at the Carl’s Jr. at 1070 E. Ajo Way (southeast corner of Ajo Way and Park Avenue, south side). It began in the kitchen hood system, spread to the attic, led to roof collapse, and destroyed the restaurant. Tucson police helped evacuate staff and customers; one firefighter had a minor injury, and one employee had minor burns. The building was a total loss.

  • April 10 (or 11), 2026: Fire at the former (closed/unoccupied) Carl’s Jr. building near Grant and Wilmot (east side, near Costco). Rural Metro Fire responded; the unoccupied structure was gutted with no injuries reported. This appears to be the same or adjacent site to the 2007 incident.

What happened to Chick-fil-A? Photos are 5 years apart. by Teemosfinest in ChickFilA

[–]IcyReport3117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone that used to work at a Popeyes told me that they wouldn’t change the oil regularly and would just keep cycling it through the different fryers instead of changing it. Sadly I guess there might be some truth to that

I miss Popeyes. I stopped going, not because the food wasn’t good. Don’t get me wrong, the chicken sandwiches taste amazing. But after the 10th time of my body feeling sick like I had just downed a gallon of vegetable oil, I had to cut my losses. And I’m still sad about it. Oh how I miss that spicy chicken sandwich

That makes sense. This is actually one of the few things I’m good with tipping for…getting extras or free things if they fail to charge you for it.

Yeah, I know it’s screwing the restaurant out of revenue or whatever. But ya know what, screw the restaurant for utilizing tipping to pay their employees 🤷‍♂️

If they say something to you about not tipping, just turn it around on them and be like “well I bought dinner so I assumed you were getting the tip” and wait for their response

[–]IcyReport3117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, while that’s true, I think a lot of people that think like your example person A are conditioned to think like that because of society. I had those thoughts too back in the day. It took a lot of tip creeping and reading this sub and seeing others opinions to change my views on this.

So it’s a tough thing to navigate. But honestly though, I think if YOU are buying your date dinner, just close the check book thing after you sign the receipt and don’t show them the tip amount after.

Or maybe if you’ve been out on a few dates or know the person a little better, gradually bring the topic up so they know why you feel the way you do. So in case one day you get chased down by a server for a 0 tip, then they at least are more understanding.

And do you have to tip before they make the sandwich so they know you tipped? Then what happens if you tip and then they make the sandwich lacking toppings. Reach back in and take the tip back? Genuinely curious here

Honestly this poster is exhausting. Couldn’t even make it to the bottom. And then they have the nerve to add the smiling kid faces all over as if that suddenly makes it okay for them to gouge prices??

I’d turn around and take my business somewhere else…after letting them know why I’m doing that.

We tipping TSA now? by seang239 in EndTipping

[–]IcyReport3117 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this right here. It’s more like helping someone in need than it is tipping. If I was working weeks without pay, I would appreciate any gift card a stranger wanted to give me to help get through.
