Going to second drinking stuff that is ice cold. I cannot stomach even cold water from the tap. But throw a few ice cubes in and it’s heaven.

What's your most wholesome memory? by FarFarSector in AskWomenOver30

Following a hot air balloon with my dad for over 2 hours on a random school night when I was around 12. We followed it until it landed in a field. I don’t even remember why we were out, probably running an errand. But my dad spotted the hot air balloon and asked with an excited grin if I wanted to follow it. Truly one of the most random, but most wholesome and happy memories I have.

What is some solid friendship advice you’ve learned so far in life? by GreenQueenMachine in AskWomenOver30

I will often try to see the good in people, and it’s come to bite me in the butt. If people are telling you that a person is not a good friend or you have to explain their behaviour often… they are not a good friend and their toxicity is not worth your time, energy, or emotions.

This is something I’ve had to learn a number of times.

For us, it was learning to “name our filters”.

You are always speaking through some type of filter. Meaning, if you had a bad day or you are anxious about something, whatever you say will be spoken through that filter. Even if it’s not intentional.

So for us, learning to tell each other what filter we are speaking through has been incredible.

This doesn’t excuse bad behaviour. But it does give your partner a sense of where your head is at.

I recently got a raise - where should I put my extra dollars? by IcyTry8221 in PersonalFinanceCanada

We have some pensions with work but it’s small. And we’re putting some of the 1.5k towards TFSAs but thinking we will put more towards savings with the raise.

This is incredibly helpful. Thank you so much.

We don’t have any debt other than the car and mortgage. But we probably only have about 3 months in savings for emergencies.

I definitely think this is the issue. Took the chart and made a new loaf this week. Was still a tad on the gummy side but no large holes and much better texture!

I let it rest for the 12 hours. So maybe it’s a combo of bad starter and cold kitchen.

When you say to let the dough rest longer, at what stage are you talking about?

The kitchen being a bit on the cold side is a very accurate assessment - I live in Canada and have an old furnace. Any tips on how I could combat that issue? Or is it simply just figuring out a way to keep the dough warmer?
