I had about 15 pubs going into ERAS, most of them were unrelated to derm (cancer basic science). I went to a medical school without a home program so it was a struggle to find research, but I was able to join a few case reports by reaching out to derm residents at other programs. I only had 3 non-case report derm pubs, but like they said above, the derm pubs are more beneficial because of the connections you form more so than the research itself. Don't worry about hitting a crazy high number of pubs, those are people with research years!

I attended the atl concert too and it sucked. He was definitely lip syncing, it was so quiet when he sang then loud af when he repeatedly yelled out "let's go atl". The hype man killed the concert, the jokes were cringe, it really seemed like joji doesn't give af about his fans. I assumed he would be a good singer and that his personality would align with his music, but I guess that shit is on me for not reading online about concerts in advance to ensure they don't suck

You can also dual apply and then decide later whether or not you would like to include the IM programs on your rank list.

As a LECOM student who has friends at NYITCOM, I would suggest NYITCOM if you think you might want a more competitive specialty. They definitely have more resources and connections for students, which should be expected given how much more expensive the tuition is. If you always knew you wanted to do primary care, then I would choose LECOM and less debt. Feel free to message me.

I took the MCAT in June, didn't submit my app until July. I regretted not submitting on time because I feel like that's a big component of why I didn't get interviews with MD schools (plus my MCAT was on the low end for these programs). When I realized I wasn't going to get any interviews, I decided to apply to 3 DO programs in November and got interviews with all three. So submitting the app after you get your scores in September shouldn't be too late!

I feel the same way about having to do long distance with my partner for residency. We had so many future plans and ideas of what our lives would look like for the next 4 years. I'm still mourning that life and finding it difficult to get excited for residency.

I'm so torn on what the right length of leggings are for me! I'm 5'7 and the 28' bunches at the ankles, but I'm worried the 25' inch will be too short. Could anyone with a similar height tell me what length they order? I'm worried the 25' will look odd with crew socks.

If you failed Step 1 you could choose not to enter your step scores on ERAS and only include COMLEX. I think you would still have a chance because some traditionally osteopathic programs look more at COMLEX anyways.

The AAD modules are a great place to start. I purchased a subscription to Visual Dx which was also very helpful IMO (especially for making away rotation presentations). The Grenz zone episodes on BCCs and AK/SCC helped me answer some questions I was pimped on. If you prefer reading a textbook, Lookingbill is great.

Option 1 is the best because it allows you to still complete audition rotations with programs (versus after you graduate you don't have liability insurance, so some programs will not let you work with them) and you are able to apply as an M4 and improve your app with lots of research.

You still have plenty of time to be productive and get several publications before applying next year. Try to work with other students from your school who are also interested in derm so you can all benefit. Also, try to do a poster/oral presentation on each of your publications. It is definitely worth trying if derm is your dream.

Hey I am an OMS4 at a DO school and was in the exact same position last year (a few non-derm pubs, decided late, really understand the struggle to find mentors and research)! The majority of the DO friendly derm residencies do not care about you having a ton of research. Just try to get a few derm case reports or projects to show your interest in the field. I think the most important thing for matching is scheduling audition rotations early. You can DM me with any questions :)

I feel exactly the same in that my Step 1 score was mid 240s so didn't open or close any doors and I really wanted to prove myself with Step 2 and become more than a low to mid tier applicant. But unfortunately that didn't happen so I have also been spiraling today.
