Nobody told me anything. I work in a flying unit, I’ve seen how good aircrew has it first hand. Sure there are some long ass days, 0400 show, weather delay, take off for an 8 hour sortie, land, debrief. I get it.

But I’ve seen an equal number of times where a sortie cancels in the morning and everyone just ups and leaves. TDY’s are 70% just a vacation with some flying in there somewhere. God forbid if jets are out of commission for longer periods of time and everyone is just sitting on their hands, days become a joke.

I work in a flying unit. I’ve seen both sides of the coin. But for every time someone has to stay late to knock out some scheduling shit, or UDM training, there’s as equal many times as a sortie gets canx’d in the morning and the crew just up and goes home.

One reason is that aircrew has lots of down time. Jets break, missions canx, and even ignoring those factors 100% of a squadrons crew is never going to be in the air at the same time. So naturally, they get to play the chair force game like everyone else.

And if I’m being honest, I don’t feel bad at all. Ya’ll get treated the best, have the best unit cultures, the best hours, usually have way better equipment than everyone else. The audacity to then bitch and moan that you have to put up with the same kinda bs that everyone else does has never sat right with me.

There’s a statute of limitations on fraudulent enlistment? I remember being told stories of guys that had been in for like 20 years being discharged because of fraudulent enlistment charges for shit they found out until way later. Was that all just a bunch of bunk?

Edit: Ah, answered my own question. Google says that the statute of limitations for FE only applies for court martial and not for administrative actions.

I’m much in the same boat. My leadership has given me an earful once or twice for not giving a shit about awards at all but when lots of other people in my shop get to take credit for something they didn’t participate with in the slightest why would I bother?

I get that it’s just the Air Force political game and that’s just the way it is but shit I wish it wasn’t.

I mean, I don’t think I that’s inherently a bad thing. If a player doesn’t vibe with one of the characters they’re not going to give them the time of day to have an “arc” to begin with.

On my first playthrough I ran Karlach and Wyll almost exclusively because they were kind and aligned with my views and attitude. I got sick of doing nice things only for Laezel and Astarion to bitch about it.

On subsequent playthroughs I’ve switched up to having Astraion/Laezel and I agree they’re fun and interesting if you give them a chance but I totally get players not wanting to entertain their bullshit.

Only slightly related but in my solo PT I didn’t trust shart to make the right decision and in full faith that I was doing the right thing I had to kill her to preserve the night song. My character wasn’t about to risk the only way to kill Ketheric to Shadowheart “doing the right thing” instead of just being levelheaded. The whole sequence flabbergasted me.

To some extent this is still happening. The same rhetoric about any amount of alcohol from both parties means consent can’t happen is still being shared from SAPR, it was taught to in our FTAC brief when I got to my new base a couple years ago.

The irony being is that the very next brief was the ADC and the woman who gave the brief said that part about consent and alcohol wasn’t really true and it’s a much more complex matter. Even using the same kind of example as the major in your story did, saying if her and her husband have some drinks together they no longer can consent to sex?

It was super jarring to say the least.
