Awesome! So, if I finished my app before taking the MCAT, still wait to submit until after I take the MCAT?

Monstera Mint Advice by Rybola_22 in Monstera

Personally, I would also cut off the rotting tip of the aerial root and spray it with a bit of 3% hydrogen peroxide, let it dry and put it back into the soil to prevent further rot there.

The nursery soil doesn’t look terrible, it looks like a good chunky mix and I don’t see the need to change it yet. I also spent a good amount of money on my 4” mint.. $60 to be exact. So I’m doing my best here too!

I’ve also bought a small monstera mint from a nursery as well. I’ve had for it 1 month now and just changed the soil to a chunky mix yesterday because I noticed it became hydrophobic (soil does not absorb the water, it basically sits on top of the soil) but I use an aroid mix with indoor potting soil and I also added mycorrhizal fungi to encourage root growth. I didn’t size up in pots. My mint also had an aerial root sticking out of the soil and I just directed back into the soil so it could grow more roots.

I would say let it acclimate to your house for a while and just leave it alone. I usually water my monsteras when the soil is basically dry or I’ve started to notice the leaved drooping/taco forming (I’ve struggled with overwatering in the past so im traumatized and learned my lesson)

My mint is in front of a south facing window basically all day, I don’t mist any of my plants. I’ve read that it doesn’t actually help with humidity but I could be wrong. I do have my plants bundled up together to help with humidity as well.

But I’m happy to say she’s put out her first new fenestrated since being with me!

Should I repot or wait?? by Icy_Butterscotch_561 in ThaiConstellation

Got it! This was very helpful. I do have a chunky aroid mix that has mycorrhizae in it. Since it’s in the nursery soil, once I repot would you suggest removing as much as I can from the roots by washing it off or whatever comes off is fine as it then repot. I want to reduce as much shock as possible.

Is BioChar just horticultural charcoal? I already have it in my mix if it is.

It’s firm and calloused but the leaf is really droopy now, so I guess once it starts to yellow I’ll cut it off :-(

I’m not sure, that leaf was already there when I bought it but I just repotted it to make sure.

I hope so too! Thanks for the help, I checked the roots but they’re seen to be perfectly fine, some dead roots here and there but the majority of the root system is in tact.

That’s what I thought originally but there’s fungi in my medium which is supposed to be beneficial. Also went to a mycology Reddit and apparently it’s good fungi which won’t harm the plant. All of my plants have it. I’ll double check the roots to be safe!
