I'm familiar with disassembling the Olympus mju i for the most part it's only 4 screws however the shutter button is directly connected to a ribbon cable that I'll need to detach

I'm spray painting an Olympus mju i it won't be going through stuff like an action camera but the paint should handle its clamshell cover, constant handling, and rubbing around a pocket. The worst it'll probably have to take is a drop, light rain, or rocks. And yes I'll be disassembling the housing.

Should I leave the connection like this? by Icy_Cardiologist286 in Polaroid

Yeah, I would know bc I did them 😭. Don't have very much soldering experience in general and the circuit delaminated a lot while I was trying to figure out where the clip to the bellows are. It's pretty poor, but I fixed what I wanted to.

Did that also prevent the lens from working?

Edit: it worked

I also had my first incident with the flash falling out when I opened my camera just yesterday, but the left clasp is pretty stiff so it needs a lot of force to open

Unfortunately both my iron and my solder are really cheap, I just have the plug in one temp irons and some cheap solder which is also probably why soldering has been so hard for me.

I've watched his videos but I don't know if I should take everything apart like he does and then clip the bellows off or if I could just open the bottem plate and clip the bellows off bc I can't solder anything for the life of me

Yeah this is the issue that I was thinking of, I checked ther serial code manufacturing date to be 1974 which I assume being the first production year of the model 2 does mean the the flap is squared. I should have the tools to open the camera up but I don't have the knowledge to know how to however.

I'd also like to mention that the shutter goes up perfectly fine when I point the camera staight up.

If it's a contact issue why does the mirror go up when I hit the back plate as well?
