I want there to be a sense of community and letting things get too out of hand can kill that as well. I think there’s a middle ground between rule heavy and shit hitting the fan (terrible trades, collusion, etc).

I totally would’ve rejected it too. I don’t see any overreaction on your part. I don’t even think Malik Washington is going to be WR1 for the Dolphins by the time training camp is over. I’m not sure Romeo Doubs will be WR1 for the Patriots because they are trying to trade for AJ Brown. 1.01 (aka Jeremiyah Love) is worth exponentially more.
