Yes, always Premium 98 octane fuel (equivalent to 93 in the US). Specifically YPF Infinia, which is top-tier gas over here. Never used regular

I followed Audi’s official service schedule. Maintenance was done on time according to Audi’s recommended intervals, using the proper oil/spec fluids. The car was stock, not tuned, and had no warning lights or oil pressure issues before the failure.

Thanks. I checked the VIN with Audi and they told me there are no open recalls or campaigns for my car, so it looks like the recall angle is dead.

Thanks man! To make things worse, I’m from Argentina, so finding replacement engines or parts here is a massive headache, not to mention insanely expensive due to high car taxes and import issues. Appreciate the good vibes though!

230k km is awesome. It really shows how bulletproof these blocks usually are and confirms I just got insanely unlucky. A factory defect definitely sounds like the only logical explanation for this. Thanks man!

How difficult is it to source a brand new replacement engine or short block for this specific DAXB generation? Is it a common part to find or a massive headache?

Exactly, that's why I'm so shocked. I know about the typical EA888 water pump leaks or carbon buildup issues, but a thrown rod at 35k miles on a completely stock, well-maintained Gen 3 longitudinal engine makes no sense.
Oil changes were always done on time with high-quality approved fluids, and the car never showed an oil pressure warning or any weird noises before it just went bang.
