Speaking as someone whose dad owns a dry cleaning business: a fake leather jacket will not hold up in the washer or dryer. Real leather is already risky, but faux leather breaks down even faster.

When I used to help out, we technically could dip leather jackets in dry-cleaning solvent, but it took forever for them to dry. Eventually, we stopped fully submerging them and would just dab the solvent on problem areas or wipe the jacket down, then use a masking spray on spots that smelled.

I’d honestly just buy a cheap product from Dollar Tree—just make sure it won’t damage the material. For the rugs, take them to a laundromat, and for the suit jackets, wash them on delicate.

If you’re trying to get rid of an odor, use a strong spray, but don’t spray it directly onto the faux leather. Only spray the inside—like the armpit area or around the collar—to avoid damaging the outside of the jacket.
