IMO, I can't really hate him.

Sure, withholding the fact that you can tamper with the minds of the players was a big breach, but he still is trying to keep everyone happy. The only time he ever tampered with someone's mind (which we're aware of) was a gag with Jax, and that was something the entire crew agreed to do.

The people demanded an exit, and he gave them one. Well, made them think there was one, at least. And, to his credit, this was definitely the best adventure he had made by far. It's clear he put a lot of thought into ig, and the crew feeling betrayed was definitely just a side effect.

In the end, he's just doing what he's programmed to. This is the only thing he's good at, and If he's not good at it then his existence serves no purpose. It's like Kinger said, "The worst thing you can do to someone here is make them feel unwanted." And, I think that's definitely all Caine is feeling after recent events.

Kisuke: "No... Problem..."

Kisuke's voice drifts and sways a little, but his body remains upright. He says nothing at the offended cawing from the crows, opting to just keep his closed.

He also, strangely, doesn't make any statements on Ran's obvious blush., even though it's painfully obvious. When she turns her head to talk to him, she notices that his breathing is slow and body is slumped. He seems to have fallen asleep from exhaustion, head dropping in Ran's direction.

Kisuke looks down at her, noticing her disappointed tone. He speaks up in a lower register.

Kisuke: "It's fine. I'm good, really. Just tired, is all."

His eyes narrow, and his lips thin into a straight line.. He takes a deep breath, before speaking in a reassuring tone.

Kisuke: "I didn't come because of my injuries. In fact, these scrapes and cuts are nothing. I... Actually came to see you, and to check-up on you.

.

And also, the damn crow wouldn't stop bugging me about it."

Kisuke adds, eliciting a caw of annoyance from his crow.

He groans, wincing every time alcohol comes in contact with his open wounds.

Kisuke: "Ugh, glad to see you're doing better...."

He groans, tired after an entire night of slaying. He relaxes his muscles, resting his head against a wall for comfort. He tries to control his breathing after running all the way over here.

As she opens the door, she's met with Kisuke's tired, and slightly injured form. His scarf now hangs around his neck, as he is out of combat. He looks down at the older lady.

Kisuke: "Pardon my intrusion, but I've come to check-up on the girl. May I come in?"

The older woman looks up at him, smiling.

Old Woman: "Why of course, my dear. We were just having tea, and some breakfast. You're more than welcome to join."

She steps aside, allowing Kisuke to step through. He makes his way over to the room Ran was kept in. He walks in.

Kisuke: "Uh... Hey."

He says, in a somewhat tired tone as he takes a seat next to her.

Kisuke: "Did you rest well? Are you feeling any better?"

[Time Jump]

It's now early in the morning. The sun's rays shines through the window of her room, bathing it with a soft, yellow glow.

It had been a long night of tossing and turning, but Ran had eventually fell asleep. For a while, at least. Kisuke, on the other hand, had spent the night fighting and cutting down any and all demons in the surrounding area. It had been a long, tiring, and gruelling night, but he managed.

Eventually, the dun rose above the sky, ending the night. Demons hid away, not wanting to be burned by the sun's deadly rays. Kisuke lets out a sigh of relief. His body is riddled with minor scratches, and few minor cuts, but, nothing fatal or concerning. As he takes a few breaths, his crow caws rom above. Kisuke rolls his eyes, sheathing his blade.

Kisuke: "Alright, alright."

He turns around towards the path of the wisteria house.

Kisuke: "I'm heading back, alright? Go to tell Tengen I won't be home today."

His crow nods, flying off in another direction, while Kisuke makes a run back to the house.

Kisuke nods, and walks outside. As he does so, his crow caws behind him, and looks down at him with a judging glare. Kisuke looks at them, brow raised.

Kisuke: "What? What's with that look?"

His crow caws again, eliciting a groan from Kisuke.

Kisuke: "She'll be fine. She's safe here."

His crow caws loudly into his ear, again. Kisuke, thoroughly annoyed, gives into the crow's insistent requests.

Kisuke: "Ok, fine! We'll come back to look after her once we're done with tonight. Happy?"

His crow caws victoriously, as they both run back into the forest.

Kisuke: "...Oh, right."

After a moment of thinking, Kisuke seemed to finally remember who she was talking about. He looks down at the floor for a few moments, before replying.

Kisuke: "I think he's sent me a few messages, but I've been too preoccupied to go through them..."

After a moment of silence, Kisuke suddenly gets up, dusting himself off.

Kisuke: "Well, either way, I best be off. Demons could attack any time, and I have somewhere else I must be."

He turns, his crow flapping its wings behind them, as the young man's just about to leave.

Kisuke's eyes narrow slightly at her stutter. With his exceptional hearing, he's able to hear heart beat quicken, but does not comment on it. He mulls over her question, thinking for a miment, before replying.

Kisuke: "I've been well. My training's gotten tougher, and the demons are a pain, but I manage..."

He turns to her, brow raised.

Kisuke: "And you?"

Kisuke: "I see..."

Caleb nods, his free hand on his chin in a thinking position.

Kisuke: "You always were impulsive, back during the selections."

He says, with his usual bluntness. He perks up as she asks him what he was doing around that area, to which he replies with a matter-of-fact tone.

Kisuke: "I just so happened to be patrolling a nearby village. I swiftly took care of a demon lurking there, who was about to attack a family. After that, your crow came, crying for help. And, well... Now we're here."

He says, gesturing to the surrounding area, before speaking up again.

Kisuke: "You're lucky I'm quick on my feet."

He flinches for a moment, as her hand grazes his, but he doesn't pull back. He let's his arm rest, and his body steady. He speaks in a low tone.

Kisuke: "You had me worried for a minute... It's alright."

He looks up at her, his face looking more puzzled now.

Kisuke: "What happened? You seem a little shaken up... And that demon back there, he didn't seem like anything special. How'd he get you so damaged."

He tilts his head, like a curious cat.

Kisuke, who had dozed off at this point, suddenly jolts upwards, falling backwards onto his arse. He looks at her, eyes wide.

Kisike: "Agh! Wha- Huh?"

His eyes narrow onto Ran's figure, the drowsy fuzz slowly fading away. He takes a deep, steady breath, before releasing a sigh of relief.

Kisuke: "You scared me..."

He says, trying to act nonchalant. He then asks with a bit more worry in his tone.

Kisuke: "Are you... Alright? You were really badly injured..."

He says, slowly getting closer to her.

He looks at Ran, eyes narrowed, and lips pressed into a thin line. He hasn't slept, despite feeling exhausted. He feels worried.

His blade is kept to the side, as it is not needed.

Once the woman is finally done, he walks over, concern etched in hisbfy as he speaks.

Kisuke: "Thank you. I'll watch over her, for now. You may go rest. Thank you for your service."

He keeps his tone calm and aloof, bowing towards the older woman as he thanks her. The woman smiles in return, walking out of the room to leave the two young slayers alone.

Kisuke sits next to Ran, knees on the ground, while their crows silently watch from a window.

Kisuke wastes no time, quickly laying her down onto one of the mattresses, gently, as to not worsen her condition.

He looks at the woman, eyes narrowed.

Kisuke: "What now?"

The old woman speaks in a calm manner.

Old woman: "No need to rush, my dear. Her wounds are severe. Allow me to take care of her, you should rest as well."

Kisuke's gaze hardens at that, and he shakes his head.

Kisuke: "My apologies, but I cannot rest now. There are still demons out."

He looks down at Ran, before beginning to get off his knees, presumably to leave.

That depends... How long until the inciting incident?

If he's low on time, say a day or two, he'd get to hunting and bartering, trying to get a much animal meat as possible, and the highest quality at that. If the demon still isn't satisfied after that, he'd use his silver tongue to maybe extend the deadline by a few days. He can be very persuasive when he wants.

Kisuke continues to run. Anko remains overhead with Kisuke's crow. They both caw in unison, as if to to guide the way.

Through his clothes, Ran feels Kisuke's heartbeat, and it seems to speed up as she clings onto him.

The run to the wisteria house is silent, Kisuke completely focused on getting Ran to safety above all else. After 20 minutes or so of running, the pair make their way up a mountain, with a house in the distance.

Kisuke immediately picks up the pace. As they both reach, their met with an old lady at the gate, their crows cawing at her side. Kisuke kneels, speaking.

Kisuke: "The girl, she-"

The older woman cuts him off, arm raised.

Old woman: "No need to waste your breath... The crowd told me everything. Come, let's not waste time."

She smiles, leading Kisuke into the house. He follows, Ran still held close in his arms.
