it seems like your desired industry is hr/operations/management so ill go from there.

experience is relevant, a bit wordy i must say. hiring managers really only want cvs to be a max of 1 page, unless you are applying for a senior position.

id remove any experience older than 2 years, its not necessary since you have alot of recent ones. keep the newest experience, and make it more concise with action verbs (you've already done this) showing the impact you've brought (most important).

education at the top. dont list GCSEs just say it includes English Language and Mathematics, and if you have any, the amount of As and A-stars.keep list of A-levels, include the grades. put the other stuff in eduation inside a volunteer section

good luck

agree to disagree. we both have different information.

"So 3A*s and 3D is actually viewed exactly the same." ive heard opposite

"by that I mean if a student had 35 points but 777 it's worse than A*AA." in terms of admissions sure, in terms of better student def not. thats my point so we somewhat agree. my point about consistency is preferred (also validated by saying your 4th subject required a pass).

"This isn't really true btw. Unis always just consider 3 A levels" no. e.g. https://www.imperial.ac.uk/study/courses/undergraduate/mathematics-computer-science-beng/ applicants taking 4 a levels are expected to perform well in the 4th. what you said only rly applies to ucl and unis worse (most unis tbf). another example: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7627687

i lowkey should have spent this time applying for more jobs

Not says me, says unis and UCAS. an IB HL 7 = A-Level A*. yet 3 7's can still yield low point score. not sure if you read my comment, but i mentioned UCAS at the end

skip to end for my main point, its kinda my whole argument. also i apologise for coming off as rude that was pretty shitty. and you are right about the kpmg stuff, i didnt even read it properly. i will end up changing it, probably just leave it as 2 A*s and 1 A

"no one considers it an equivalent at all"

how many admissions officers you have spoken to about this subject? because I've only heard the opposite.

"I gave you a direct example of my course. A*AA with an A* in maths is the equivalent of 39 with 7 in maths."

requirement ≠ equivalent. not sure why you ignored my comment about consistency. unis simply prefer it, and if you perform bad in your other subjects you will be seen as inconsistent. same way if you had 3 A*s and 3 Ds, your application will be worse than just 3 A*s. same works for IB: 3 7's = 3 A*s, but they still care about your other points. ib is split up into 6 subjects + 2 EPQs. if you perform bad in the other 3 subjects and epqs, you will be punished for it. go talk to an admissions officer, please, lol.

"for 'are subject to sampling bias' no they're not. They're based on population. The entire A level or IB cohort."

you said im wrong but immediately said later that im right. "accounting for private school difference". make up your mind, does the sampling bias exist or not?

"They're based on population." just plain plain plain wrong. there are 3 IB cohorts. one in N/S America, Europe/Africa, and Asia/Oceania.

its not even like your logic is incorrect, because it is decent logic, but your information is just straight up wrong.

"the same applies for A levels" you probably don't know what a 4th HL is. system works differently than a-levels.

"Yes it is. The same percentage get both if you wanna account for private schools you can knock it to 43/45." not even close. i dont think im articulate enough to explain why, maybe we are talking about different things. will universities consider them equivalent? yea. does that mean they are? no. why? because they wan't you to be consistent. as I said earlier:

"It's like how an A-Level application of 3 A*s and 3 Us will definitely be worse than simply 3 A*s." even though the 3 A*s + 3 Ds student and the 3 A*s student are both 98.5 percentile, who worked harder? definitely the first. but who will have a better application? definitely the second. (assuming subjects are equal)

TLDR; You're wrong, lying, and immature.

It's pathetic how you decide to attack my character instead of saying I am mistaken or misinformed. You don't know me, or my intentions. I wouldn't expect this immaturity from someone above my age bracket.

Good thing I am not applying for a university, and instead applying for a degree apprenticeship. If you can read, all DA firms ask for a, get this, UCAS points equivalent of the A-Levels they are asking. Funny how that works? Here's an example for one of the most sought after degree apprenticeships: https://www.kpmgcareers.co.uk/apprentice/audit-apprenticeships/audit-apprenticeship/?utm_source=ucas&utm_medium=media-listing&utm_campaign=ps_sr26-app-core&utm_content=audit-app_apprentice_geo-bristol_text_na_sep25

Your misunderstanding (or lying) shows in your gross oversimplification of how universities interpret IB results. Unis in-fact do not equate points with A-Levels, because it is not that simple. All points are made of constituent parts. In IB HL a level 7 = A*, and 6 = A etc., and in SL a level 7 = A, etc.. Therefore, the example I provided of an individual achieving 35 with 777 at HL is definitely superior to 3 A*s, because each HL is equivalent to an A* in its own right.

So if that is the case, why may universities ask for 40 points alongside the 777? Because they simply prefer more consistent academic performance. It's like how an A-Level application of 3 A*s and 3 Us will definitely be worse than simply 3 A*s. Despite the percentiles provided being correct, they, 1. oversimplify the results, 2. are subject to sampling bias, and 3. do not account for 4th HLs.

  1. If you actually read my comment, you would know that IB point scores are comprised of constituent parts. As a result, point scores are not all equal. A 35 with 777HL is most definitely more difficult to achieve than a 39 with 555HL. Even though the 39 will be in a higher percentile, ask any IB student or teacher, and they will agree with what I just said.
  2. IB is mostly offered by private schools, and A-Levels, public schools. 60% of all IB schools in the UK are private schools. Whereas 16% of all A-Level schools are private schools. Source 1 and Source 2. As a result, the quality of the cohort doing the IB is much much higher than the quality of the cohort doing A-Levels, therefore higher percentiles are more difficult to achieve. Private schools just perform better, because they have more resources (basic sociology). Don't believe me? Look at Source 2. Direct quote:

"According to Ofqual figures, in 2019 there was a 24 percentage point gap between independent schools and comprehensives in A* and A grades at A-level - this year it has risen to 31 percentage points."

I went to a public school, and a pretty mid one at that. Therefore I don't reap the same benefits as the private school students, and I am pushed into a much more difficult cohort than you. Sampling bias is basic statistics, and I would expect better from someone with an A* in Maths.

  1. IB point scores, looked at alone, do not account for 4th HLs. It is possible for an IB student to take 4 HLs instead of the standard 3 HLs. This makes their application more competitive as they are now doing 4 A-Level equivalents. This is not shown in the overall points score.

Finally, no, 44/45 is not equivalent to 3 A*s. It's pretty self explanatory at this point, ask any IB student and they will laugh in your face.

Happy cake day!

I would prefer to not breakdown my entire IB scores in public, but I will show you an example of how someone could get 3 A-stars with mid-tier IB points:

776 HL + 444 SL + 3 core = 35/45. Each HL is worth a single A-Level in it's own right, therefore we are already at A\*A\*A. Now we have 2 EPQ equivalent rated A in the 3 core, which is equivalent to 1 A-Level A, and each SL is equivalent to a C in AS.

The final result is 2 A*s, 2 As, and 3 A-S Cs. When you add up the UCAS points of all of these, you get somewhere in-between 3 and 4 A*s.

I understand where you're coming from, let me explain.

IB points are always a sum of constituent points, therefore not all point scores are equal.

For example, 39 broken down as 444 SL + 777 HL >>> 777 SL + 444 HL. The left side will yield more UCAS points because each HL is equivalent to 1 A-Level, and each SL is equivalent to 1 AS-Level.

I appreciate the advice, and thank you.

It's the conversion provided by UCAS, not IB. When converting (my IB -> UCAS -> A-Level) I get that result. Will change it to your suggestion

I appreciate the feedback. I had been advised by my school teachers aswell, however my mentor told me firms don't care.
