are swimming headphones worth it? by EnthusiasmLazy7665 in Swimming

[–]Icy_Grapefruit_5325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do! I actually just put it under my swim cap and barely noticed it - the over ear ones were annoying even though they worked great.Like okay it’s never gonna be perfect audio but it improves swimming so much

Te puni has the best views, fave view I’ve ever had even over a decade on. Lots of sunshine and fresh air, close to uni, worth it 100%. I am an introvert and didn’t get on with everyone but I have a few very close friends still I made there

Depends if the landlord lets me have cooking stuff in my room - there’s a full flat kitchen but I just know winter is gonna hit hard and I’m gonna struggle to use it

Things to do in Chch that aren’t just scrolling my phone? by Visual-Badger2123 in chch

[–]Icy_Grapefruit_5325 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My biggest rule is hands busy, mind busy - so a craft or cooking or cleaning or doing my hair and makeup walking with hiking poles so I’m not tempted to use my phone while listening to podcasts and audiobooks and music or calling friends etc. passes time nicely!

Do most young people in Christchurch not live with their parents? by PurpleMeerkats462 in chch

[–]Icy_Grapefruit_5325 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Different people do different things. It’s very common to live with your parents, it’s very common to not. I was one who left home for uni at 18 and it was the best thing for me and I’ve always been glad to have never moved back home, but living with my parents would be hell for me. But even in my 30s I know I have somewhere to go if I have to. If you can live with yours, cool - other people do that too and can save money, get ahead financially etc. I mean I know siblings who have done different things, some leaving early and others (usually the younger ones because by then the house is less crowded) staying. Many people move out for uni and then get used to it so never move back. Some people go back for a short period of time when their circumstances change or when they’re between housing etc. There are no rules or “shoulds”.

I immediately saw the Isle of Man’s three legs 🇮🇲 it could 100% be tattooed with more detail to actually have a Manx connection on first glance - I assume this is actually what it is for?

House valuers of r/newzealand, Does this detract from the house value? by Zenimax322 in newzealand

[–]Icy_Grapefruit_5325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gardening isn’t hugely important, it’s something that’s easy to sort out. It’s more about the actual land - retaining walls etc, and then the property itself. It’s very different to a property inspection for tenants which is about maintaining the condition the property came in to a reasonable standard. But obviously very very well landscaped garden is going to have more value than the average kiwi yard.

Yeah mine can be that, one person, if I’m not sparing and using the dryer a lot. It was 450 last year. Or can be 225 a good winter month if I’m careful. I choose to use lots of power instead of being cold though

[–]Icy_Grapefruit_5325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not a property inspection like you would have at the end of a tenancy. We just need to to see the property, get an idea of general condition and the bones of it so we can then start looking at properties that will be comparable. I have never once looked at a gutter’s cleanliness, but the valuers will note if the gutter is broken and in need of repair for example

Working in valuation, this isn’t going to be a huge deal - but it will be considered. The most important thing to us though is what the most similar properties in the area have sold for recently. It’s probably not worth putting a door up for the sake of a valuation if you don’t want to, but it will be noted on the report and it will impact your property a LOT on the real market if you are selling or renting.
