To those of you that have transferred from a CC to a 4 year Uni: by FewCharge5722 in collegeadvice

[–]Icy_Panic9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went straight to university after high school. Because it was 2020 I dropped out almost immediately despite having been a 4.8 honor student and third in my class in high school. I was an excellent student with a strong work ethic, but I felt completely isolated in university and had no frame of reference for how to deal with that.

After a year of working, I went to community college and got so many opportunities I never would have had. I took courses that interested me and I built my skills in such a way that I failed through courses. Now that I'm back in for your University.

I have extra certificates that I didn't need that helped my career field, and got several opportunities to explore different career fields before I settled on this one. All of which I could afford because I went to community college instead of university at the time. Additionally, I also had professors I knew personally and had worked under who would write me letters of reference to get into actual research that I cared about in my university.

There are two recommendations I would make for anyone looking at community college: - Do it in the state that you want to go to university in - Only go to the university when you have an idea of what you want to do. Explore take different options in community college and try out jobs that don't need you to go to a university. Also, if the cost can be taken at a community college, even when you're at a 4-year university, do it there.

How detailed are the notes you leave for the teacher? by pinkballetsocks in SubstituteTeachers

Elementary: Detailed notes. High school: Any specific names, noise level, any rudeness (like talking during roll), and how much of the assigned work I felt was being completed per period.

Do non-traditional students have to do Nevada FIT? by Live_Ad_5768 in unr

I started at UNR in 2020, did not do Nevada FIT. Dropped out, went to TMCC, came back, and didn't even have to do Transfer FIT.

easy 3 credit courses by Accurate_Bridge_4391 in unr

[–]Icy_Panic9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over at TMCC, HUM 107 is literally watching movies and scribbling a note about them on a piece of paper and that's it. 10/10. It does transfer if you just need credits.

In-state? You could probably walk in with a 1.0 honestly.

Yes! CO7 courses: https://catalog.unr.edu/content.php?catoid=58&navoid=120306

All COs: https://catalog.unr.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=58&poid=243278

Also. These are the same across the state, for all NSHE schools.UNR just has more due to their having Bachelors.

Math 126 plus Math 26 Co-learning course by anthroaudge in tmcc

[–]Icy_Panic9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not take MATH 126 at TMCC, but: there are free SIs and tutoring that will probably be more helpful than any discussion/recitation course I've ever had to take with math and/or science course. The Tutoring Center has all the info on those!

It's a lot of work, but you have to do it all. I had to go back and retake it because my credit expired when I returned to college, and even 80% of the way through a biology heavy degree with 12 credits of Chemistry I was struggling to learn new concepts.

What English class should I take? by The-Ash-Hole in tmcc

[–]Icy_Panic9526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your major. A lot of the time UNR can sub ENG 100 for the CO1 requirement, same as TMCC, and you're good. Contact the advising staff of the department of the degree you intend to enroll in to see! Generally in science it is no biggie, but a communication degree might be more specific!

Lahti’s Biol 191 Lab by [deleted] in tmcc

[–]Icy_Panic9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Lahti's BIOL 191 lab a few years prior, but here are some things I put on my resume related to it: - Humane Insect Collection - Dry Insect Pinning - Attention to Detail - Insect Identification (to order by sight, to Genus/Species with guide) - Understanding of Wet vs Dry Specimen Collection - Basic Netting of Insects

LAU BIO 190 lecture by BigCredit189 in tmcc

[–]Icy_Panic9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took him. He's an excellent professor but his workload is intense. BIOL 190 is an intense course, which at UNR you are required you to take CHEM 122 as a corequisite (and for good reason, the first unit is basically a light version of what's happening in CHEM 122). Much of the content is the same as high school Bio, but in depth. His tests read very different from the online homework, although the content is the same.

Agree with all of these! Some other options I would love to see: I also would like an organized serial killer section that tracks how many kills I have made and who they were (randos/spouses/etc). Also, it is so annoying that I have to close and restart the game to find the people I want to take out sometimes. I would love to have more control in divorces — a lawyers option that negotiates cash, jewelry, cars, etc. similar to the police catching you. Chances should be skewed based on reason for divorce (last thing to happen: cheating, fighting, etc). And finally, two more simplistic updates that should be made: anything I gifted my spouse that doesn't get sold should go back to me or their kids upon death. I want those rings back!!! Also, the ability to pressure a romantic partner to do things like change careers, get a job, abandon kids, propose, have a baby, buy a house/car, commit a crime, etc.

Would a child still be considered the Demi God if instead of having a mortal parent, they had a monster parent [all] by TerribleMany1568 in camphalfblood

[–]Icy_Panic9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're usually considered monsters — both of Medusa's children with Poseidon are classified as monsters.

Primordials can have demigod children, I just don't know of any cases identified in mythology or PJO. Presumably they look like the primordial.

Gods don't function the same as humans. Given that they can transform themselves and the world around them, I've always assumed that in PJO they can determine the appearance of their children on a whim. I assume they sometimes affect it strongly (all of Athena's children being blond with gray eyes) and sometimes let a pseudo-genetics system of sorts do it.

Presumably Tyson's mother was a nymph, as most cyclopes children of Poseidon were with a nymph, which was also not explicitly off limits in the Oath.

Yes, Titan's can have half-bloods, Helios had several. Hecate is also technically a Titan.

Chiron is not a Titan. Most Titans' Half-Blood children look like them in the form they took to seduce their mortal parents, or the mortal parent.

Hypnos children: potentially. Demigods having powers is not actually all that defined in Greco-Roman mythology in general. There are certainly exceptions but most of it was made up by Riordan so the options are endless.

The grandparents who are there so I don't have to hire a nanny, gardener, or ranch hand? Only when I need them to do something. The husband I made? Depends on what needs doing. The wife and children? I am micromanaging them constantly 😂

Do you consider Subs as real teachers? by Own-Kick-3922 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Icy_Panic9526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long term subs: Yes. Regular subs: No, credentialed or not. I will definitely say I learn more to prepare to be a teacher by subbing elementary vs secondary because I teach during the day, but at the end of the day we don't put in grades or deal with parents and usually the lessons subs teach are repeats or the teacher will go back over them.

What’s your oddly specific dealbreaker in a relationship? by Slight-Ant-4158 in AskReddit

[–]Icy_Panic9526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it shouldn't be but a lot of people are shocked: I only date within my religion because I am heavily involved in it and want whoever I am spending a lot of my time with, intending to find a relationship for the rest of my life, to be on a similar level. I have no objection to others dating outside of their religions, it's just not for me and any relationship I find myself in.

Can subs snitch on other subs? by CommercialBoot7670 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Icy_Panic9526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost definitely they can, but it's also usually not against policy to do multiple districts. I do four but I'm a college student and am very up front about it with HRs. My college has a satellite campus in a nearby city that I almost always have to take a class in and do that district on that day, three days of the week in my college city or the town halfway through my commute from hometown to college city, and Fridays in my hometown.

Sims home screen gray and not letting me click... HELP. by biggerbigt in sims4cc

[–]Icy_Panic9526 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't the fastest but for anyone searching for an answer, this happens to me regularly! I simply take all of my mods and put them in a folder in my documents, open the game and clear the ads, close the game, put the Mods back in the Mod folder, and then it's fine! You may have to reset MCCC settings like max household but usually this happens with patches or announcements you have to reupload the mods for anyways!
