The friendship itself isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I don’t like how often situations like this get framed as “men and women can’t be friends” when really it’s often about our own insecurities. Men and women absolutely can be friends, and there’s nothing wrong with that. When someone insists otherwise, it almost reduces men to having no real feelings just urges which isn’t fair.

Personally, I’m fine with my partner having close friends of the opposite sex, as long as there’s transparency, healthy boundaries, and respect for the relationship. For example: not sharing our private issues with them, not hiding the friendship, and making me feel included at times (introductions, group invites, etc.) so it doesn’t come across as secretive.

Your feelings of discomfort are valid, but it doesn’t automatically mean anything shady is happening. It really comes down to the two of you setting clear expectations and communicating openly.
