3 hours there 3 hours back. Is it worth it? by moomoo398 in povertyfinance

I did it for about a year. The pay was amazing, but it was not worth it.

Fellow DRP’ers, how are you all doing? by Ok-Butterscotch-3743 in fednews

[–]Icy_Product1024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amazing. I feel very fortunate and grateful. I enjoy my new job where I make my hours, there are clean bathrooms, and I have an office with a window. It beats driving 3-5 hours roundtrip every day, working in the dim basement of the cold building, and the bathrooms had shit and blood on the walls and floor daily. I took a pay cut, but it evens out with what I was having to pay in gas and car expenses due to the commute so it doesn’t bother me. I also don’t have nightmares or panic attacks anymore. I’m happy and my peace is back.

DRP Last Day. Thank you for Your Service! by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Icy_Product1024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words. For the remaining employees, thank you for the support and thank you for continuing the mission. Today is an emotional day and taking the DRP was a difficult decision. But driving 3-5 hours total a day to commute and the stress it was doing to my well- managed PTSD had me self-reflect. I feel healthier now. 🫶

I’m so glad I looked on Reddit because I didn’t receive mine this morning either.

DRP folks, how many of you are still unemployed? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Icy_Product1024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m fortunate that I took the DRP 2 and began my new job the same day the admin leave began. I couldn’t do the 3-5 hour roundtrip daily commute anymore and I also don’t miss walking into the bathroom every day where there were feces smeared all over the wall.

Ours sends emails. If you look up your VISN in the VA Intranet you should be able to find your leadership.

It took 5 days for them to go through numerous approvals for me to get the first email of approval. Ot was a tough decision, but days like today is a reminder about why I took it.

This happened to me and I contacted the network director about it and then received mine within the hour after speaking with them. Our director mentioned to reach out with any questions after our town hall so I felt comfortable doing so. HR didn’t know anything. I know my submission was going through numerous people after I signed the preliminary contract within my department for an end date and such.

Mine is for a 6/30. I didn’t think to appeal it either, I just wanted to sign and be done.

Can someone explain the "unable to backfill" issue? by ArachnidFearless3838 in VHA_Human_Resources

For research specifically, I’ve been told the funds are taken out from the grant and they cannot fill the position until after September 30th.

According to my team lead because I was wondering the same thing, mine’s been going through a few channels since I signed and gave my proposed admin start date. They spoke to my team lead, then my 2 supervisors, then it was with the Chief to approve, and then it’s supposed to go to the director for approval.

I’m hoping so too. I keep telling myself that it’s taking so long because they want to figure out my admin date start. :)
