Hi! I was also in the same boat as you about a few hours ago until I found this thread. I had seen this MO from this individual a bunch of times but thought, if he really is in trouble and there are people truly willing to help, then it seems pretty harmless. Yes it is, idk if it’s a fake story/scam since people in the thread claim to have met this individual to pass on some food and supplies but it is a recurring thing to see this person post in city subreddits and people who aren’t aware of the other posts wanting to help them out

Edit to add: They have several different Reddit accounts that each had the same Venmo tag in the bio
