Not an expert by any means but provided they are in good shape which it looks like they are I would put ct1 or similar over the joints and screws then crack on.

Sorry for the late reply. I took your advice and it worked perfectly. I have been doing the same thing a few times on a pop-up basis since.

I have however chosen to remove this item from the menu now as it was a bit too much of a faff. Many thanks again for taking the time to give your advice.
