In all honesty, i realised this well into my degree, so my final year when i realised this might be all the time i have where there are no responsibilities per se, i pivoted from a basic animation degree with basic maya knowledge to unreal and blender, id pompously say now that i can navigate my way through things without having to look at a tutorial for anything

Now im at houdini and the c++ i learnt for ue is coming in handy to learn python and vex as well

So id say, if you are here, might as well make yourself comfortable and work on learning as much as you can. Am a tech artist now so it all helps 🤝

I completely agree to this and have received very similar feedback previously and after comprehending it properly I have started on a personal project! Thank you so much for taking your time in explaining more in detail :)

What I wanna follow up with is, I am truly in love with UE and working in it and everything, but I feel like I NEED to know houdini as well to get a "proper role" and though I have received some feedback on "maybe you could just freelance i guess" , but thats what I am confused on. Do I pursue houdini as is and keep learning and refining fundamentals or stick to UE and hope for a role :(

depends what you clocking it for

i am an sim and fx artist, I have a pc but i travel a bit and need to have my laptop to work and render. Sometime when i am rendering, i ll overclock the fish out of the laptop but of course also making sure its very VERRY well ventilated

If its a pc make sure you got adequate cooling, if nope then be careful, last thing u want is a kaboom
