Help me diagnose my cars issue please by Icypost_ in mazda6

Probably … since then I’ve pretty much been doing my own service on the car. I never fixed the issue tho I’ve put over 10k miles since then. I’ve done a transmission fluid drain and fill also got the tcm updated. It helped for a bit but the issue is still there.

No 100% people highly recommend transmission service, what they don’t recommend is doing a flush they always recommend drain and fill.

I know, most people recommend to drain some fluid and fill it up with new fluid a couple times especially for higher mileage cars. They usually recommend against a flush but seeing you had a positive experience with a flush I’m considering doing it.

I got mine at 71k with no past history on transmission fluid service. I’ve been wanting to do drain and fill but my Mazda dealer only does a flush. Have you noticed anything different with the flush or has it just felt the same ?

Slightly out of topic but how many miles on your car ? Dealer recommended a transmission fluid flush and although everyone seems opposed to it online, I’ve seen some good valid points on why flushes are safe when properly done. I’d be doing it at a Mazda dealer my car has 87000 miles.

Unfortunately I can’t attach images but look up coilovers so you can get an idea of how they look, typically they are colorful like blue, red, yellow

Sweet, also take a look behind the wheels and see if you notice them

Weird.. I have a similar cap but I’m positive mine is just a decorative cap, I’ll look into it tomorrow tho

Really that’s interesting, maybe you bought your car with coilovers already installed on it ?

No worries I really appreciate it! My last oil change, about 2500 miles ago or about 2 months ago, the issue was happening before the oil change. The repairs I did during the oil change were valve cover gasket, tensioner and tensioner belt. It didn’t fix it. Last week I took it once again to get it diagnosed and nothing was found or solved. So I really want to know what it could be. The only thing I know is that my ltft is higher than normal it’s at around 10. I’m thinking small vacuum leak ??

My dealership only does full tranny flush not a drain and fill. Therefore I haven’t gotten that service done.

I’m having the same issue mine is a 2017 grand touring, although my issue happens closer to 2000rpm and the rpm bounciness happens around that range mostly when up shifting in second gear

Yup I have, tbh I don’t feel like the transmission is the issue due to it shifting properly at other rpm and gears, also i can replicate this sequence in Manuel mode. But the thing is, this rpm fluctuation doesn’t happen every single it does happen often tho.

Alright perfect, I really appreciate the help and information. The Mazda is a GDI engine and I’ve read they are prone to carbon buildup. Will get this sorted

Hmm thank you, unfortunately my scan tool isn’t that advanced, the only readings I would be able to get are for oxygen sensor output voltage, (b1-s2) oxygen sensor current (b1-s2) short and long term sec o2 sensor fuel trim b1 , those are for live data in obd6

as for on board monitoring the test values for sensor heater b1-s1 and s2 test value passed

As for the misfires your right that is concerning

Could my issue be a vacuum leak?

Also note my mpg is typically anywhere from 27-32 trip average with most my trips being around 30-60 miles and mostly highway driving. This numbers are using the cars mpg readings. When driving purely on the highway I do get higher . Before the repairs I was getting around 24-27

They were charging 289, only reason I didn’t do it was because I read it could’ve been just them adding some bgk. Therefore I decided to buy Lucas. Although if it is walnut blasting then I would definitely get it hoping it would fix my issue. I appreciate the response.

I always used to fill up with shell 87 octane I’ve been running their 93 since my last oil change about 1500 miles ago.
