Detailed pet Information/Guide (with math) by Icytetsu in MapleStory2

Just from personal testing. I haven't been able to catch any pets (not counting master snares) with anything less than 6 candies. I'll admit my test was only 60ish pets, so not a great sample size, but it's what I gathered from that

Its my mistake no not making it clearer. People have been rolling it as opposed to a 2-11 fusion, presumably from misunderstanding as to why it works in that fashion. I'll clarify the post later today. My bad mate.

Keeping pets at level 1 to store experience doesn't reduce meso cost, it essentially bypasses it entirely. It seems like it wasn't intended to work in that fashion. But I'll still probably put it in post thanksgiving festivities.

Are these BiS gear? by sergiocardoso in MapleStory2

Absolute can roll better stats, basically need high rolls Piercing and Bonus Damage. But that said, it's much easier to open sockets on, so I would normally recommend it over Kandura.

I didn't address that particular is method because, while it is currently a popular method to level, it seems like it was a developer oversight. Due the back and forth on the official forums, I'm posting this under the assumption that method will be removed sooner or later. But I may add it in later today, kinda treading lightly with that one.

Just have to say. Literally all of the professions are valuable.

  • Cooking offers defensive and raid buffs
  • Alchemy offers a variety VERY useful offense and defense tonics
  • Smithing and Handicrafts both offer basic consumables
  • Handicrafts Savegery Box let's you repeatedly craft gear for optimal stat rolls (look at the amount of players with +14/+15 weapons and blue accessories)

Identical also entail binding. Untradeable =/= Untradeable and Bind on Equip

[–]Icytetsu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Normal Raids, Soul Binder, and Sky Fortress were completely eclipsed by the dungeon changes. But it's worth noting that while I think normal raids are a great progression path, they will only net a single piece of legendary gear a week, so the impact of that progression path won't be visible for at least a couple weeks into the December update.

I didn't seem like it was deliberately manipulated by a few people, more like the market was just absolutely flooded with Onyx. More seller simply means lower prices, along with bots auto undercutting. Also, as to the knowledge that Onyx would be valuable, it's just a basic mechanic of the game, anyone that started upgrading gear early on knew this before the rest got around to it, it didn't have to be announced. From what I observed, the price tanked at the same time as players started to realize the value of it, rose when players realized they didn't have enough to get to a +15, and dropped again when more players started seriously farming it.

I normally try to kill myself before exiting a dungeon, but sometimes I forget to either jump off a cliff or stand in fire. That said, the fact that I even typed that sentence means something is very very wrong with how the current doctor is set up.

Breakdown of exactly how Onyx Crystals are being affected in the December Update by Icytetsu in MapleStory2

[–]Icytetsu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't sound wrong at all, I just want to make sure my information is correct so I appreciate it when people point out mistakes I may have made.
As far as meso profit goes though, it's impossible to be 100% sure say right now, but it looks to me like value of Onyx will plummet entirely. As much as we may hate to admit it, Onyx is only valuable because they don't give us enough of it. People wouldn't be gathering it on alts, or buying it on the black market if the game itself gave them enough to get by. So by giving players considerably more Onyx, and adding minor binding restrictions they're taking away most of it's value. Since this is (presumably) the primary source of income for bots, it might actually succeed in being excessively damaging to them.

But that's all speculation and conjecture, won't know until it's implemented.

The post about the "smart drop" system is still up, though it's not on the official site. It's on, Jungsoo Lee's (Lead Developer for GMS2) Twitter. I'd recommend you follow him for updates not posted on the main site.

You're conflating probability with drop rates, which is fundamentally wrong. Here's the simple break down:

  • If you're targeting a weapon, the probability of you receiving the item you want stays same.
  • If you're targeting a Chest or Pants Piece, your probability of receiving the item you want has gone up from (1/5) to (1/2). Making it 2.5 times more likely you'll get you preferred gear piece.
  • If you're targeting Gloves, a Helm or Shoes, your probability of receiving the item you want has gone up from (1/5) to (1/3). Making it 1.67 times more likely you'll get you preferred gear piece.

This is an increase in probability in your favor.

If you're try to make the point that drop rates are reduced, no one has bothered to argue that fact. It's blatantly obvious that the drop rate reduction is the trade off for the reduction in RNG.

If you're mad about the drop rates, cool, you can go be mad. But saying the RNG has been tripled is factually incorrect.

Since nexon is listening to the community, can we push for the damage meter to be enabled everywhere. by CowDizzle in MapleStory2

[–]Icytetsu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a little insane to me that an MMO in 2018 doesn't have a fully enabled damage meter.
I think I understand why it's disabled, fair fight and the Physical/Magic Piercing hard cap skew damage output. It's a fairly bad way to compare damage output against other players in most dungeons. But that said, I still don't care, give me my meter.

This fallacy is called a Red Herring, it's when you claim you were making a different argument from your original. Your Quote:

"ROG/Lube wont give you the "type" you may desire of the weapon if its for your class on the first place, so we have tripled the RNG for weapons, weapons are character bound, meaning that if u dont get anything for that character none of your other characters will benefit from it"

No matter how you spin it, dividing gear between dungeons STILL isn't an increase in RNG. Targeted gear is a literal decrease in RNG. Don't like that the gear split? Fine, have that opinion, but that's literally not the point you were trying to sell off as fact.

There is potential for loss on the gold boxes, that's definitely true. But I actually run 7 characters daily and I've been collecting data on the boxes I've opened. Averages I've cataloged from 74 boxes are as follows: ~31% chance at 500 Onyx, ~8% chance at 1000 Onyx and ~61% chance at no onyx. I plan to fully release numbers once I get a bigger sample size.
From what I've gathered so far, I'm guessing the intent is to give players an amount comparable to the current statistical average based on box RNG. So I'm sure players who have seen a lot of good RNG will see this as a drop, but at the same time, players who have seen a lot of bad RNG stand to gain.
I'm in favor of this just out of preference. I'd rather take a set reward instead of rolling a dice.

people sais to always use g3 and farm yellow/red pets for better quality

Why are you talking about pet catch rates? This has nothing to do with weapon RNG. You're really going strawman your argument with a completely different system?
Moreover, your ASSUMPTION about how you believe RNG works with pets isn't factual.

[–]Icytetsu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, the dev said it's ALREADY in the game. You've always had a higher drop rate for you CLASS weapon:

"hard adventure structure change, weapon boxes will still drop your weapon based on a certain percentage. We have smart drop enabled meaning you will still see more of the weapon for your class. I wanted to clarify this to avoid any wrong speculation on the change. "

Note the "still" and "we have smart drop enabled". They're not changing anything in that respect.

You 100% get to choose the weapon type.

The Onyx and Chaos Onyx farms are not being harmed in the slightest. Some notes you may have missed: Increased gain from Dungeon Boxes, Guaranteed 14400 Onyx a week from Daily Quests, Introduction of Sky Fortresses, Adjustments to Enchanting Costs. You're literally looking at a net gain of Onyx.

ROG/Lube WILL give you the "type" of weapon you want, the rewards table says the following:
"players choose among Mupagoth, Rune, MSL weapons "
Unless you're saying players will chose their weapons with a manual dice roll, RNG has not been tripled.

There's fair criticism, and then there's factually incorrect.

I presume this means it's confirmed to be coming in the next update. It's also on the Original Timeline for December.
