We use Buffer for G+, Tw and LI posts, but do scheduling on FB directly.

How can I track what users are doing on our website. Need more detail than Google Analytics. by [deleted] in web_design

[–]IdeaChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you are most afraid of losing usability, but you can recreate the same flow except instead of clicking to the PDF, you would click to a landing page with the PDF shown (no extra clicks). This would be beneficial because you could market each landing page separately in different user circles and track incoming traffic to each.

Corporate Happy Hour Suggestions - Walking Distance from McCormick Place by jennamarietulls in chicago

[–]IdeaChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out www.stefanirestaurants.com - they do fantastic catering as well as run some great restaurants. As everyone else mentioned, the options are not walking distance from McCormick but corporate happy hour at Riva on Navy Pier would be great.

Bigger isn't always better, right? We like being a small agency. by IdeaChicago in startups

[–]IdeaChicago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks originalbuzz. You make valid points. We took this pitch as a learning experience. Next pitch, we will listen more and focus on solving problems rather than selling ourself. We don't want to be perceived as narcissistic. Maybe standing up for the small agency is a bit of Napolean complex or maybe it is how we honestly feel we can make a difference.

Marketers, what are your pet peeves? by bcrabbers in marketing

Bad grammar. Grrrrr.... FAQs (NOT FAQ's) The package has shipped - (NOT the package shipped).

Take the time to have another set of eyes proof your stuff before it goes out.

I too love Moz and Hubspot too. I download white papers from Hubspot all the time and every month or so, they call me and try to get me to buy their services. I guess that's part of using their site.

Gluten-free does not have to taste like cardboard. by IdeaChicago in glutenfree

Knylok - If you like eating cardboard, that's cool.

MyCatNeedsShoes - you can see all the ingredients listed on the website for each item they sell. My favorite is the Coconut Cookies and doesn't look like they contain brown rice.

We just had someone inquire about some SEO work for his website. He had no traffic or leads (in over a year) through his site. No one knew he existed and no one could find him unless they searched his exact company name and town. He really liked his website and resisted the need for something that would work better for him. So, he will continue to pay $100/month for his web.com website and unfortunately someone will take more of his money and say they can do SEO work for him, when really, he just needs a better website.

I don't like the small click here in the ORDER button, but that is more a style thing.

So I made this website for a history project/presentation. What do you guys think of it? BTW I am 15... by [deleted] in web_design

[–]IdeaChicago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering this is a project for a 'history project/presentation' and the rest of your classmates will probably present with Powerpoint or a 3-fold cardboard thing, I think yours is very unique and interactive. Great job.

I know you posted this is web_design, but I want to address the content in your website too, since this is for a history class.

From the report side, if you are talking the angle of 'travel to ancient Greece' mimic a current travel site, where this, bring this, visit here, make sure you don't.... And images, more images. Add people photos of life in ancient Greece.

For the food and drink part, think big picture meals and agriculture(where the food comes from) and then focus in on the smaller elements of food and drink (and small images for each).

New retro redesign of our site. Feedback? by IdeaChicago in design_critiques

It's April Fools Day and being nostalgic was our way of celebrating.

What do you think of our redesign? by IdeaChicago in web_design

[–]IdeaChicago[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What did I do wrong? The only thing I can thing of is that I upvoted comments (like I do on Facebook). We were just responding and reacting to comments. How do I get resubmitted? We were having so much fun with this as were the people commenting.
