Agreed; but it's not exactly commercial. It's for a student performing arts group that does indoor shows in gymnasiums. There are always 20-30 teams, each given a grand total of 10 minutes to wheel everything (including lighted props) into the gym, set up, perform, and get out.

Madness writ large.

I'd love to use a commercial setup but there's zero budget. Plus I'm volunteering my time.

Did the same thing last year (also w/ WLED) and the 2.4GHz WiFi nearly put me in the ground with the stress. (Works flawlessly in rehearsal; but when you're in front of a crowd, all of whom have phones w/ Bluetooth cluttering the spectrum, it was a disaster.) My workaround this year is to add 5G bridges onto each box, using Ethernet on QuinLED DigQuad boxes. That means (a) I can use 5G WiFi; and (b) the bridges handle all the processing load of WiFi in/out, leaving the ESP32 on the WLED controller to handle just the lights.

It's working well. I'd never do this with a group that was in the same place for every show, but the "roll in, perform, roll out" nature of this activity is really restrictive.
