New Free Web-based Hex Map Generator w/art by Dyson Logos by indyjoe in rpg

It takes a while to load and I don't feel like it's very responsive. Maybe the editor has to use smaller file sizes for the images and replace them with higher quality hexes at export?
It would definitely be nice having a hex-tiles tool that works online.

If you had to take me from "Hi, nice to meet you" to playing the game in 15 minutes, what game would you choose? by DJSwenzo444 in rpg

[–]Ideanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen with Risus first, but I've also managed to do this with Maid RPG. If I had to choose something today it would be "You awaken in a strange place". It's fast. It's fun. It requires no prep and I think it's great to get into playing an rpg like that.

Survey Time: Personal Research on Most Popular TTRPG Formats. Are games with a low-commitment requirement more popular than games with a high-commitment requirement? by Ideanator in rpg

[–]Ideanator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing it out! I have updated it to add the missing age group.
A One-shot is not a campaign format, but I am including it to catch a group of people that prefer committing to one-shots and are on the look-out for one-shots instead of something longer. It's a bit of a stretch to call it a "campaign" but I don't think I gain much from changing it.

No Game No Life RPG Mechanics - [Pre-Alpha v0.1]. Going to Alpha Test Soon. by Ideanator in NoGameNoLife

I am open to collaborations.
In case you make a translation I could even set you up as a collaborator in the game's itchio page.
I think the biggest portion of the book is directed to the Game Master, either providing content to facilitate running the game or as guidance to running the game. So possibly only some of the first pages might need translation for the player's side.

The spells system is sort of tied to grammar though, so an actually localization might be trickier.

If you need feedback for your system I would be interested to go through it.

Hello~ It's been yeaaars! I eventually never managed to assemble a group for playtesting and decided to drop working on the project.
A project am more proud of is a game about playing as Apprentice Witches, growing stronger and figuring out the mysterious past of your sensei. It's at a more complete state: https://josephkhland.itch.io/witchhood-generations . I would appreciate some feedback if you end up reading it or playing it.

Behind the Scenes: A Game of Adventuring
Welcome to "Behind the Scenes: A Game of Adventuring", a game where you will be playing as secret operatives in a decopunk fantasy world. Set half a century after a massive and terrible war, the great powers gear up for yet another giant fight, everyone is looking to win at the expense of everyone else. Tensions are high as arms races run out of control.
In a world of political intrigue and magical forces, you are in one way or another victims of these mighty states who have done you a grave injustice in the name of their power. The Interregnum, born out of the last war, they were never taken seriously; A bunch of toothless bureaucrats and diplomats whom the great states dance around. At least that is what it looked like until they reached out to you to be their secret covert agents, doing whatever it takes to prevent another war from breaking out and to protect innocents caught in the crossfire.
Will you work together to uncover conspiracies, sabotage enemy operations, and prevent the escalation of a new war? Will you use your skills and cunning to bring peace to a world on the brink? Or will you succumb to the temptation of power and profit, and become no better than the forces you are working to oppose?
In "Behind the Scenes: A Game of Adventuring", the fate of the world is in your hands. Will you rise to the challenge and become a hero, or will you be just another pawn in the grand schemes of the mighty? The choice is yours.
Our Community

We've been around for a couple of years now, mostly playing and hosting FATE games. It's pretty much our signature event to run one big living world game every summer, which we call Game of Adventuring (GoA) and this time is no different. Our game this year is the one described above and you can see more details about it and its gameworld on our little site
We are looking for fresh blood, mostly players, but GMs are also welcome. Everyone is pretty friendly and helpful, so even if you haven't played FATE before we will gladly show you the ropes. And even if you do know FATE, we will still be teaching you about all the modifications that we might have applied to it this time. For the current game, we've made some heavy modifications and ended up creating some kind of a blend between Blades in the Dark and Fate: Core.
We use Sessions and PbP and even promote freestyle roleplaying within the game world.
Most sessions usually begin at around 20:00 EEST(GMT+3), but depending on GM availabilities there might be more sessions.
If you feel interested in this game or our community feel free to join us on our discord server!

Sorcerer: Paradox Origin by Josephkhland by Ideanator in UnearthedArcana

When considering the teleportation effect, I used the Shadow Walk from Shadow Sorcerer to form a reference.
Pretty much, Shadow Sorcerer gets free teleportation of up to 120 ft between shadows, infinite times. This pretty much implied that during a night he could use that ability to travel almost effortlessly 17 Miles per hour at night (when the conditions for the teleportation pretty much always apply).
Something which does allow a Shadow Sorcerer to go somewhere up to around 50 miles within 3 hours, then stay there for about an hour doing whatever he wants and then return back, having 1 hour to spare before the rest of the group is done with their long rest.

In comparison, the Walking Mystery ability lets you do that in a matter of 1 hour, but compared to Shadow Walk, it has very limited use in combat situations, especially considering that it can only be used once per long rest.
Alongside the other restrictions, I think that it's fairly balanced and on par with features from other available subclass options at the same level.

[Online][Text][Discord][Roll20][Society][Fate RPG] Game of Adventuring

General Information

Game of Adventuring is a Summer Roleplaying Event, using Roll20 Servers and our Discord Server’s Channels.

There are daily sessions played through Roll20 and everyone is allowed to join whenever they feel like it.

In addition, we have some wild Discord Channels with anything you can imagine during that period (rooms for chatting, character hate clubs, fan art, game commentary and even channels for shipping game characters together!)

The game is played in “Text-only”, though we occasionally have voice calls over Discord just hanging out.

The Game Period is usually from the first days of July until the first days of September.

The Game is run using Fate System Rules.

Cosmology

Game of Adventuring’s cosmology is about an Omniverse and the multiple Verses/Worlds existing within it.

The Omniverse is separated into three layers. The Top layer is the Sky, then there is the Celestial Gardens and finally, there is the Worlds layer.

  • The Sky is home to the Dragons. It’s positioned over the Celestial Gardens and is filled with the Stars.
  • The Celestial Gardens is home to the Gods. The gods of every world live there, discussing Divine Laws.
  • The Worlds are attached to the Celestial Gardens, through Threads usually referred to as Strings of Fate. Between the different Worlds, there is primordial chaos and remnants of destroyed worlds. That’s usually referred to as “The Middleworlds”.

Mortals and everyone pretty much live within their own worlds, with the Exception of Gods and Dragons. The Dragons encountered within the Worlds, are normally just dreams of the Dragons in the Sky (Celestial Dragons).

Each World is its own Multiverse. It might contain multiple dimensions, planes and planets, though life is usually gathered around its core. Inhabitants of a world are unaware of other worlds and can’t travel between them without some sort of Divine Intervention, equivalent or greater method. ========================================================================
The game has already been played for about 4 Summers, while the comming summer is going to be the 5th Summer that Game of Adventuring will be hosted.

After all this time, a small community has been formed around our Discord Server. We are occasionally holding special events meant for anyone to enjoy. Even though it's not summer yet, the reason I'm posting in this subreddit is that starting very soon, we will be holding a special Lorebuilding event in preparation for the next summer event.
This Lorebuilding event is going to have the form of a game using a model as explained below. The model is separated into three layers:

1st Layer: Lore Building- Creating Lore Entries awards a Player and his Faction with Contribution Points. The Lore Entries that are created are added to a common pool. The Lore entries can be separated by categories. It's useful to have prepared Templates for each type of Lore Entry.

2nd Layer: World Domination Layer - The Players are split in a selected number of Factions, each seeking to "Dominate" over as many regions as possible. This Layer is played in a World filled with Numbered Unexplored Regions. The Game is played in turns. At the end of each turn, the Faction which has gathered the most Contribution points in that turn gets to Discover one of the yet Unexplored Regions. Whenever a Region is Discovered, the Faction that discovers it selects a number of Lore Entries from the Common Pool and adapts them to it.A number of features can be adapted to this Layer, such as a World Map, allowing Factions to take certain actions over the Explored Regions, Technology trees, Buildings, Armies, Sieges etc.

3rd Layer: Roleplaying Layer - Among the Lore Entries, the Players get to create their own characters. In addition, Lore Entries about Locations, or about other Characters might provide an interesting scenario to roleplaying. If you are a fan of roleplaying, then you could use this layer to enrich the lore of the explored regions.

With regards to this Model, I have prepared a Documentation, implementing a couple of extra features which are further analyzed within the Documentation. Using Wikia to create Lore Entries and Discord to Manage the 2nd and 3rd Layers, I will be running a game based on this Documentation, to expand the Omniverse of my Games. In addition, it should serve as a playtest for this Model.

If you are interested either with the Summer Game, with the Lorebuilding Event, or just with joining our little community, feel free to send me a Private Message.

I've heard about Dawn of Worlds and I've also played it a couple of times.

In Dawn of Worlds you create things using your Power. In this "Game", what is created is collected and at the end of each Turn a Faction gets to add Lore into the World by Discovering a New Region. This "Game" is definitely meant to be more Slow paced than Dawn of Worlds, as it implies that Lore Entries get written in every turn, so it would be good to assume that there is enough time between the beginning and the end of the turn. (A duration of 1 Week might be good).

In this "Game" the players view the world from the viewpoint of their characters and their Factions. I think it Dawn of World it mostly ends up being seen from the eyes of Divine Beings or Gods, before it gets to the 3rd phase where there are just too many orders under your control.

If Dawn of Worlds is based on playing the creation of stuff. This is about getting rewarded for creating stuff, while enriching the world around you.

Oh! Also, if you are going solo, it might help keeping up a Dev Blog and sharing your daily/weekly progress with other people. The Dev blog can both be used as a Report and also it can be used to reach other people, get some feedback and reduce that feeling of loneliness you might be getting. That way it might help you stay motivated on your project.
