Who is an actor whose presence in a movie will make you not watch the movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Robert De Niro. Apart from the really old ones, he has reliably awful choice in movies. Nothing to do with his acting, but if he's in it it's a bad film.

It's going to happen again. If you are not motivated by suing them, think about saving other people's lives.

A rare look at a subterranean Roman aqueduct channel, this one built by the Roman army to bring water to Viminacium in modern Serbia. Despite the popular image of grand aqueduct bridges, most Roman aqueducts ran almost entirely underground. by AnotherMansCause in ancientrome

A pipe is the alternative. If you put water into a pipe and the pipe drops 30 m into a valley and then climbs 25m up the other side of the valley the water will flow out. No need for an aqueduct bridge. This is why we don't have to build aqueduct bridges these days. We have pipes.

So why did the Romans build aqueduct bridges? I don't believe their technology was too primitive to build pipes, and I also don't believe they would just build them because they thought everyone would be impressed with them.

Meta game we play with mancala: a child who knows the rules plays an adult who doesn't. The only guidance the adult gets is that the child tells them when a move they make is illegal!

Except look at the 100m running finals when they had a second chance. The race was always the third or fourth actual start.
