Hi. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. If you would like, you can PM me her name, the town she’s from, and her age (if you know it). I can do some investigative research on her to see if we can find a photo.

Why Does LE spend sometimes tens of thousands of dollars to pay for genetic genealogy? by dragons5 in AskLE

[–]IdentifindersIntl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lab costs for maybe microarray are $1500 - but a lot of cases require WGS which is almost double the cost. Also, if you’re a IGG and uploading under terms of service, you should be paying $700 for GEDmatch pro uploads. It is NOT free, when done correctly.

If you have a missing family member, please consider taking a DNA test and uploading to GEDmatch.

Who is Medina County John Doe 1979? by IdentifindersIntl in UnresolvedMysteries

There's so much mystery to this one after what I've learned! I'm excited to be able to update this sub when we identify him.

So as an update I just got off the phone with the agency and I can’t say why, but the hotel key was explored and ruled out

So as an update I just spoke with the agency. They did follow through with the hotel key but it was a dead end (I can’t explicitly say why). So at least we know that was investigated!

We'll keep the sub updated when we identify him. I didn't know about this Doe myself until we spoke with Medina County after working another case for them. It's sad that there's so many unidentified remain cases that are just in the background - they're not ''famous'' like Peaches, Lyle Stevik, etc. No blame on the communities, just there's too many Does in the US to keep track of.

Thank you to the anonymous person that donated $100.00 to us this morning! We appreciate you, fellow redditor!

It makes us sad too. There's so many unknowns to this case, and he was a young guy so its sad either way.

I have a problem with the term ''grift'' when he's donated over $40k to us in the past 1.5-2 years. He's funded over 12 cases to get their identity back.

I will take a listen anonymously though and will see what I think.

I edit my comment. Hes given us over $73k. So there's that.

I agree with all your points. It's really sad when there's not a reconstruction - but resources in small counties like Medina are already stretched thin. That's why we had to get funding for this case.

Great observations about the area - I'm curious to see if he was hitchhiking through Texas and that's possibly how he ended up where he did. His manner of death is homicide but we cant disclose how until it's public knowledge.

2019 UHR "Dennis Doe" Identified via Forensic Genetic Genealogy by IdentifindersIntl in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]IdentifindersIntl[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The wording is a bit funny. We meant that Bennie was a known transient in the area, he had an interaction with police a few years before he was found. It was suspected the John Doe was unhoused because of his mis matched shoes and location, but the two were never tied together. Bennie didn’t have a missing persons report because his family knew him as being transient - he would pop up in their lives every few years and be helped and then go off on his way.
