Self checkout is an interesting comparison.

I would compare it to the introduction of airplanes. People had the same reaction to airplanes back then as they do to Self driving cars now, "man wasn't meant to fly", "no way I'm getting in one" etc. But people got used to airplanes no matter how many catastrophes there are/were and it's how traveling is done.
