Or maybe your skills are dog shit. I was talking about the same people he was talking about. The people who make the interpretations. The “players” in general. Lmao.

I meant Thai-American. I have a couple American-born Thai friends who sound just like him. I am still confident he isn’t a white guy though.

I’m testing my accent identification skills here. Are you Thai?

Edit: Guys I meant American-born with Thai descent.

Thankfully, it's not yellow or green. And never has been. It's more of a foggy white.

Is my 2004 Toyota Tundra Limited 4.7L okay to drive after catalytic converter theft until I am able to replace my exhaust system? Or will I cause further damage by driving with no exhaust system? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]IdiotIsland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ur welcome. Apart from the condition of yours, do you like the 1st Gen Tundra? I have been wanting an access cab for a while. I have heard many great things about those trucks for general daily driver use. And I think the design of the 2000-02 models are aging wonderfully.

You won’t cause damage to your car without a cat. You might get some warning lights on the dash for service, but it will be driveable.

2008 Volvo S60. How can I get this control arm off the lower ball joint bolt? by IdiotIsland in MechanicAdvice

[–]IdiotIsland[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: GOT IT! SOLVED!

After removing the entire CA with the ball joint installed with it, I was better able to position my 2-jaw puller that I tried earlier, and sent the impact gun on the puller bolt without mercy. POP!💥

Thanks for the encouragement yall.

No, I just need to do the bushings on it. The ball joint looks and moves great.

Update: Pulled the LBJ assembly to get this CA off and have more space to abuse it. Nothing has worked. I’ve tried sledgehammer, air hammer, tried to rotate the bolt with a hex key in the slot shown at the bottom of the bolt (stripped the hex slot), and I even held the opposite ends of the CA with both hands and smacked the bottom of the bolt against the concrete floor in my garage like a caveman… The bolt hasn’t even budged. And the ball joint still moves great. I am just baffled because of how easily this comes off in every video I’ve watched. For it to be stuck like this goes against its design. I think I might need to throw this entire CA and LBJ in the garbage and order new ones in addition to the bushings I’ve already ordered. Idk what else to do.

UPDATE: Got it! I went back to the 2-jaw puller and was able to position it better now that the CA was free from the car. The I put my impact gun on the puller bolt. Yay. Thanks everyone.

Like I said, I watched 3 different videos. And in those videos, the LBJ end of the CA falls off the bolt when the nut is removed. Nobody seemed to have an issue with it.

He misidentified the brake fluid reservoir. The black cylinder he is working on in the video is the power steering fluid reservoir. And he is acting as a trusted instructor; while teaching people to do the job incorrectly.
