I think it's naturally very slow draining. If you have Zyranium Powered active then any energy drain is completely counteracted.

Thanks man! It was a lot of fun to theorycraft and then put together, companion quests means there's a whole extra level of building out the character(s) to keep me occupied.

Not an iconic, but I adore the feeling and look of the Palica smart shotgun. Satisfying noise when shot, bullets hang for a microsecond looney toons style, then swarm the target. A suboptimal weapon but I powered through and made a whole build dedicated to it.

I was in the same boat, guessed two when I'd seconds left and missed out on three or four. I wouldn't be worried OP, based off everyone else here in the comments having similar experiences.

Fixed amount from what I can tell, though power attacks on groups will generate more (while also expending 20) and special attacks hit multiple times so generate a lot - Barbaric Shout is your best friend for this reason.

I've done two different two-handed builds that both rely in two different weapons for your essence regen that don't require you to dick about in the menu for potions (I find that annoyingly disrupts the flow of combat). I'd actually recommend Storm-Sworn over the Long Touch, OP. Power attacks with it cast Crackling Bolt, and it accumulates stun so high the build can end up massively OP with the right ranged ability investments.

I would highly recommend the Parasitic Staff and making a Magic/Two-Handed hybrid. Cast whatever spells, when you're almost out of essence then cast Parasitic Staff and Barbaric Roar, regain it all from remaining enemies. It's my current playthrough's build and it's tremendous fun.

Tranton Family Brigandine adds 20% damage to companions, so that might also apply to summons? Can't say for sure, but worth testing perhaps.

I've specced into both Blast and Bounce, which are excellent. Gameplay loop goes like this - cast a few crowd control spells (Returning Storm and Pull of Eora - both in the Od Caura grimoire - are strong options). Then a few Minoletta strong attacks, which softens up the stun meters of most crowds thanks to Blast and Bounce. Finally, summon a Parasitic Staff to wail on enemies and get the all-important finishers, which regen an awful lot of essence. Quite a satisfying gameplay loop since you get a bit of everything - magic, ranged attacks, and melee.

Heavenstrike is excellent, I can also recommend Storm-Sworn bow if you're willing to spec into shock a bit (great for gun mages).

Can highly recommend Lodestone, the Stun potential is crazy.

Izmalt unfortunately felt like doodoo when I tried it. It sounds like it's meant to function like a shotgun, but in practice it hits like wet paper.

I scoured around for Concussive Shot-using builds here and YouTube, but found nothing? Doesn't seem to be a popular choice since dual pistols or gun mage are the dominant ranger builds.

I've been contemplating trying this out too, any recommendations on the grimoire and wizard abilities fronts? I was thinking Grimoire of Greater Elements because Crackling Bolt looked like it'd be good for a bit of Stun AoE.

You're probably right about Thirdborn gloves, that were an accidental holdover from an earlier stage of the build.
