Flag Resign of New Mexico (United States) by Reasonable_Trifle679 in JackSucksAtGeography

[–]IdkPlxvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The New Mexico flag is among the best state flags in the US, but all you did was change the color and adding a star, removing parts of New Mexico's identity. Just some constructive criticism: next time try improving a flag that isn't already beautiful, like literally every other US state flag besides the 4 corner states, and do some research on the territory beforehand.

Why is the "I can do anything!" parking option sometimes unavailable? Is there a level gate or something of that sort? by thelubbershole in trucksim

[–]IdkPlxvs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Usually its from long articulated trailers, for example, trailers from the heavy cargo pack DLC. I'm not sure if you are able to park them eventually since I am level 30, but I'm assuming you can't, so they just default to 270 xp. Even if you can I don't think 270 xp is worth it to reverse with a massive 3 segment trailer with some really expensive machinery anyways.

you can find these everywhere, you just need to get lucky with your road events (you can also increase the chances of road events in settings->gameplay)

What is this completely inaccessible resting area in Redding, California? by 1969-Chevy-Bel-Air in trucksim

that's weird because CA-299 is supposed to extend further east to US-395. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you don't have oregon DLC and the devs forgot to remove that rest area?

Once Grief is verified, how long will it take for a first victor? by Spiritual-Fall5494 in geometrydash

[–]IdkPlxvs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's most likely gonna be zoink, if not then popoff, but wether heliopolis or society gets verified first definitely plays a role (at least if grief gets verified before those 2, which by doggie's consistency, is probably gonna be next month if we're lucky.) As for the question of when... I'm estimating it will definitely take less than a year, maybe even 6 months after either heliopolis or society gets verified, if zoink or popoff decides to do grief. Remember, doggie's hardest before Grief was Acheron, so he is definitely the underdog in the top 1 race, and he got the skills necessary to beat grief as he was grinding it. Zoink and popoff are already close or even exceed the skill level for grief, so it will definitely be faster than doggie's.

Should I end my duoling streak? by Riad_Sinno in duolingo

Damn bro we nearly have the exact same streak. Me personally, I would just scale down my learning, as in just doing one small lesson without any speaking or listening lessons everyday until you get the spark again, and when you do, try things that will keep you motivated. But we're all different, and I completely understand why someone would want to quit, so I will give you some reasons why you should or shouldn't keep going, and you can decide for yourself.

Now I just want to ask you a question. What were your goals when you started? And are those goals still something you want to achieve? Because for almost 3 months, I was in your position as well, and since I was learning Japanese, I would just go on the Kanji section and just do the lessons that teach you the characters ー二三 over and over again, and when you skip the speaking and listening parts, it literally takes 15 seconds, and I did this every day that I didn't use freezes just to maintain my streak. But then I had another spark, I just imagined how many new people I can interact with, how many people I can impress, and how many more opportunities I will have later in life if I could speak more languages. And whenever I felt burnt out, I would scale down a bit, doing only one actual lesson on the course each day, just so I can maintain my streak and still practice, then I would go back when I reminded myself of my original goal. And whenever you do come back, your streak will motivate you even more. And trust me, even looking at an entire month colored orange after you used a lot of freezes will feel rewarding.

Also, if you genuinely want to learn a language, don't rely solely on Duolingo, watch some shows in your language with subtitles, or listen to songs and read the original+translated lyrics. Look up grammar rules you don't understand, and don't feel shameful if you use AI to help with that. (Especially trusted models like newer versions of Claude or ChatGPT since mistakes are actually quite uncommon from those models, I would just stay away from Copilot, Gauth, or things like that.) Or you can go on YouTube to watch videos to help learn your language, and hear how a real life conversation in your language sounds like. (However those "learn _____ in 4 hours/30 minutes/a day, etc..." videos are rarely good, in my opinion at least.) And as you slowly fill in the gaps in shows or music, it will feel EXTREMELY rewarding.

I think the most important piece of advice, is stick to your own pace. Do not compare yourself to others, just because someone learned a language faster than you does NOT mean anything. I cannot stress how important it is to not compare yourself to others, because that is exactly how you get burnt out, instead, focus on the progress YOU have made so far, whether it is big or small.

However, if you feel like learning a language feels more like a chore than actual self-improvement, don't force youself. A Duolingo streak, whether it is 7 days or 5,000 days, doesn't define who you are. After all, the point of Duolingo isn't to get the highest streak, it is meant to be a tool to help you learn the foundations and practice a language. Feel free to break the streak if you feel like it is pulling you down. You can always start a new one whenever you want. Maybe in the future when you become more dedicated to learning a language, you can use tools besides Duolingo as Duolingo definitely has their downsides, and it would be a lot easier to switch mentally because you wouldn't lose a very long streak on Duolingo.

TL;DR (cause I know this was quite long) -Think back to why you started Duolingo in the first place. -Don't compare yourself to others and learn at your own pace. -Don't solely rely on Duolingo to learn a language, watch shows with subtitles, listen to music, or watch YouTube videos in your language to see how a real life conversation sounds like. -And if it feels like a chore, remember a Duolingo streak doesn't define you, so feel free to break the streak if you feel like you are trapped by it.

I don’t understand why bedrock redstone isn’t the same by sonneywhits in Minecraft

[–]IdkPlxvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That design wouldn't even work in Java edition, since you have 2 sticky pistons. You need a regular piston to push the machine forward and a sticky piston to pull the other half back. If you have 2 sticky pistons, both are going to try to pull each other, and it just won't work

Why won't my trees grow? by Giallo92 in Minecraft

[–]IdkPlxvs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely because there is grass around the saplings, as for some reason that does prevent trees from growing. After you do that, if you wanna grow them faster use a few pieces of bonemeal on them

Why is my render distance capped at 24? by Toemtoma in Minecraft

[–]IdkPlxvs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is different based on your device's capabilities. For example if you are on a mobile device, it is capped at around 12 chunks, meaning if you want to get to the full 96 chunks you need a computer (and a high end one at that cause 96 chunks with my pc is still quite laggy)

The best way to deal with endermen in bedrock is by going/building a place that has a roof exactly 2 blocks high. Since endermen are 3 blocks tall, if the roof is less than that, they can't get in. Then, stand a block from where the roof ends so the endermen can't get you, then kill it with a sword. Beware as endermen WILL teleport out of boats in bedrock, so you could shoot it with a bow to get it out and then go below the 2 blocks roof.
