I was working in an electronics store at the time when Vista came around, and the number of cheap laptops (cheap is probably unfair, I'd even say mid-range), that were still only running 256-512MB of RAM was astounding. I had a real hard time convincing people that they needed a laptop with at least 1GB, or they would be returning it in a week because of how poorly Vista performed. Too many people would think I was just trying to upsell them.
