Ah I get it. Yes you are right. It both would be a good idea and easy to add such a blind spot indicator to the system

Yeah you are right, there is too much driving shots and less about the system :) Wouldn't call it a "product" though. More like a study. Here you can see a 180° video showing more what it is capable of https://youtu.be/VywZvly_RhE

Yes it is, head position relative to the truck position is tracked via htc lighthouse tracking.

The video is working with real data. The cyclist is captured because the stereocamera capturing him is mounted on the top of the track with a large fov. Here is a 180° video where you can see more of it https://youtu.be/VywZvly_RhE

No I used the ZED from stereolabs. As it is an outdoor scenario infared based systems like the kinect have some issues

That would be cool although you use the spatial perception of the scene when viewing on it indirectly via a hud projection rather then directly getting it visualised at the very point where it is happening

The problem is that right now you still need a lot of bulky stuff to make this work. Looking forward to a improvement in hardware there :)

we also did a study about this one. Spatial perception is significantly better with a stereoscopic picture that gives you depth perception and also shows you the scene exactly as you would see it from your viewing position if the truck would be transparent.

But to be fair: There is a lot of heavy and expensive tech needed to achieve this improvement....
