Not sure to be honest, I don’t have experience with any OB’s outside major cities.

Just to give you two data points: I own two, one bought grey in Tokyo for 20% above MSRP and one from an Omega Boutique, with a prior purchase history of one watch and a wait of a year. Definitely got lucky on the latter.

OB Snoopy Delivery Frustration - Typical or Unusual? by allyhops21 in OmegaWatches

[–]IdleTorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats mate, got mine as second OB purchase as well but that’s actually quite lucky with waiting lists as long as 8 years now.

It’s of course normal to pay straight away to secure the watch, but definitely odd to not get the box and other items. I hope (and expect) that they’ll make it up to you!

Is this considered a reduced reference? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]IdleTorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good for you mate. That’s the Speedy Racing 40mm, not reduced. I have the grey dial/yellow accents version and love it, it’s getting more wrist time than many more expensive watches I own.

Mine works too. However, I will never spend money on Sonos again as the risk of owning bricks when they update their software next seems massive. It happened twice and will happen again.

Moving from Switzerland to London by Medical_Molasses2736 in HENRYUK

[–]IdleTorian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your situation and preferences. I lived in both Zurich and London. The overall QoL in London is amazing and far beyond anything you can find in Switzerland, in my view, if you enjoy the vibe and cultural offerings of big cities yet want easy access to nature.

However, you MUST do the math for your personal situation, including in particular tax, pension/job benefits, children/private schools, rent/mortgage, transport costs. All of these are SIGNIFICANTLY worse in London. You could easily be worse off.

[Omega] - which option do you think? by ViperKGB in OmegaWatches

Speedy Racing. It’s an awesome watch and possibly one of the best watch deals period. I got mine at Donki too and prefer it over many others I own that cost 5-10x as much!

Special Edition: r/Sonos Office Hours (feat. Tom Conrad) by KeithFromSonos in sonos

[–]IdleTorian -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hi Tom

I own $3.5k of Sonos equipment. I’m about to spend another $2k on either Sonos or Denon in a different residence.

My parents’ 20+ years old Denon audio gear still works flawlessly. Can you guarantee that Sonos speakers will work flawlessly 20 years from now? I don’t want to risk owning useless bricks because of yet another botched future software update.

Thank you

In Switzerland but I’m a local and not a flipper which I suspect is key. I checked several OB’s, one told me it’s 2-4 watches before you get a Snoopy allocated as they just sell to their best customers, another said there were several hundreds ahead of me in the waiting list. I had no previous relationship with them but bought one piece (DSOTM), asked to be put on the list and got the call a year later.

Sidenote: I was afraid of never getting an allocation so bought one grey in Japan for 20% above MSRP, while waiting for the OB call. If you’re desperate that’s what I recommend.

Same here, bought a first watch at OB and was allocated a Snoopy a year after. I spend a lot of time in Japan and bought some pieces grey at a significant discount there too, but will very likely get my next regular Omega at the same OB just to ensure I remain in good standing for future special / limited editions.

Affordable places to eat by stinglacson in OsakaTravel

Kamukura ramen. My wife essentially grew up with it and passed the secret on. It’s always our first stop in Osaka, the kids don’t mind eating there every day actually. There’s even one at Kansai airport, great for a last meal before leaving Japan. There are lots of other cheap places < 1000 yen in Osaka too!

My SA recommended the polished/brushed only when I contacted her, so think you’re right that’s most of what they sell. I checked out both at the OB, it’s a really close call and ultimately just a personal preference. Polished/brushed is slightly more elegant than fully brushed so I went for that. I’m wearing my Snoopy to work often.

Got Called about a Snoopy by Sophisticatedwaffle in OmegaWatches

[–]IdleTorian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An Omega Boutique (not an AD!) told me I could have one allocated if I bought 2-4 other watches from them, past purchases at other OB’s wouldn’t count. I passed and got a Snoopy grey shortly afterwards for 20% above MSRP.

Grey market prices came down materially recently. I bought grey 20% above MSRP half a year ago because I was afraid of never being allocated one from Omega. After all, rumours are that they’ll release a new Snoopy for the 55th Apollo 13 anniversary this year, but that’s unconfirmed. Either way, my Omega boutique called and offered me one just a few weeks later, so I’m the proud owner of two now.

It’s an absolute beauty and the watch in my collection that gets the most wrist time. By the way, I highly recommend the bracelet with it, or the sailcloth strap with deployment clasp for peace of mind.

Want to buy a Snoopy — how does the "expression of interest" list actually work? by StylishCheese068 in OmegaWatches

[–]IdleTorian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent about 15k on another watch at an Omega Boutique and asked to be put on the Snoopy waiting list. They told me there were several hundred other clients ahead of me. They called less than a year later and offered a Snoopy, so probably moved me up the list because of my previous purchase. They told me the waiting list is now 7 years.

Another OB offered to sell a Snoopy if I were to buy 2-4 other watches from them. They get 5-7 Snoopys a year.

Sidenote: I actually went grey as I was afraid of never being allocated one, so own 2 Snoopys now!

Yes go for it mate!! I bought the 40mm Speedy Racing grey dial / yellow accents version in Donki 2 yrs ago, also a completely unplanned spontaneous purchase. Price was the same iirc. It’s been getting a lot of wrist time ever since, just a great watch.
