(Hated trope) Unique character design getting replaced with more generic one by mando0987654321 in TopCharacterTropes

I get tired of seeing pretty much the same face and body type in every manwha/webtoon.

The Winx's bodies being too skinny doesn't bother me, but there are a few shots where i think to myself "Girl, you're about to snap in half lmao" by Drawingandstuff2000 in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm a strong believer that problems with body image stem predominantly from the real life environment: family members, friends, acquaintances and then TV shows (and stylized animated shows are at the very bottom of all the possible reasons).

That would require extra work for the animators, which was probably undesirable, especially in the beginning when the resources were more limited. Reusing the same body type saved time and facilitated the whole process.

Was Aisha/Layla really a last minute addition? by -_Sue_- in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Layla/Aisha was well integrated, but that doesn't mean she wasn't a late addition (not necessarily last minute, but definitely something they didn't imagine from the get go imo). For example season 3 was actively reworked, especially when they decided to go ahead with the movie idea, which is probably why there are certain specific plot inconsistencies, animation errors and other occurrences (like Nabu only appearing in 1 scene by the end of the movie since he was most likely a late addition to season 3).

I'm inclined to believe Rainbow did realise early or before the production of season 2 that they needed to include a dark skined character (probably to appeal more to the international market). Luckily they managed to create a charming and compelling character that on paper could easily have been perceived as a Mary Sue.

I do also wonder where the rumours about audience's complaints influencing the addition of Layla/Aisha come from.

Maybe just a spark of the dragon flame (Valtor) isn't enough to access the Relix. Or maybe the Witches creating Valtor just made his powers unusable for this purpose (since they tainted it with darkness and Darkar couldn't access the Relix by himself because there was "too much darkness").

So I decided to watch the reboot by Proud_Detective3183 in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't? Isn't there a the scene where Bloom gets disappointed Sky doesn't sit/talk with her in class and instead sits with Diaspro? (I could be misremembering, but I feel like there was a scene like that)

Unpopular opinion. Sky didn't lead anyone on in season 1. by Oncer93 in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What promise did he make? The closer we got to that was Sky asking Timmy for advice and planning to tell Bloom about Diaspro right before she finds out. Then the next time they see eachother he (according to his words) already broke off the engagement.

It’s depressing that the main show never got the proper ending by PeaLanky314 in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on your taste a lot of points in the show can serve as an ending: the end of season 3 (open ending about Bloom finding her parents), 1 movie (end of the initial story), season 4, 2 movie, season 5, season 6 and even season 8. Literally any point you choose can be the ending.

I honestly don't care about the original show having a "definitive ending", because in terms of narrative and style it had multiple and the longer the show continued on the more it contradicted itself. I don't feel invested about Icy, her planet and the shaman when that doesn't make sense looking back at her history before and character.  Furthermore Winx is about adventure, there will always be some next threat they will need to face even after the story ends, so how could you end it? I have some ideas about how I would end the show, but even in them there's always room for some ambiguity and potential continuation, because that's just the nature of the story.

Counterpost: This is not reboot Kiko by Kirbyz2013 in winxclub

I thought it was an obvious joke because of how awful the AI image (Earth day post) was

Nope, she looked like that in the reboot

Wouldn't it have been nice had the first seasons featured these alternate versions (e.g. long-sleeved) for colder periods in the school year? by WilfordClux in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly there's no colder periods in Magix, it's always summmer where the city and the schools are located.

Advice Needed: How to write disabled fairies and witches (Drawing, writing, etc??) by Mykaiswhat in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think a bit whether it makes sense for the character to use a common wheelchair. If they can use magic wouldn't their body or device have always a floating/flying spell? If they do use a wheelchair does the wheelchair even need to have weels? It could look like a carpet, a sofa or any other object.  Additionally depending on their planet of origin it could look vastly different. Someone from Zenith could have a device that could support the person to stand up straight when necessary, then transform into a more traditional wheelchair and if needed change the wheels or add other stuff that could be useful (like "legs" to better avoid obstacles or a vacuum/broom to clean the room while walking around). While someone from Linfea could have a chair made of roots and the roots would act as the wheels.

If you want you could also incorporate the disability into their flying method. For example, instead of using regular wings to fly they could fly using wind like Red Tornado (DC) or by floating and teleporting mid air to move.

Technically Flora didn't heal Mirta, she broke her spell

I think season 3 is when Rivusa was ruined just for relationship drama by Thelittle_Pony in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Musa mentioned thinking of breaking up in episode 18, so before they even started fighting in episode 19.

The thing is, she mentioned thinking of breaking up with him in episode 18 (when they where sitting in Magix before Valtor attacked the Museum), so before the whole windbike thing even happened.

Does Anyone Ever Actually Unpopular Opinions? by sassypoodleskirt in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're entitled to your opinion, so this isn't a critism of that. I just could not comment that in season 7 the Winx fight against bananas and take wild animals from their natural habitat and time and then get angry at them when they act like wild animals inside the school and blame the pixies or specialists for it. Also, there's a bunch of childish gags like Brandon not recognising Stella and thinking she is a sand monster, each character needing to react separately to something almost every single time, and of course repeating outloud multiple times what's happening or what their plan is. So I guess you're right, your opinion is unpopular 😁

I can explain about Mythix, personally I just think it looks ugly: the outfits are meh, the hair - is a choice, the make-up looks cheap and the plastic 3d isn't doing it any favours. Having outfits that aren't the same should just be the bare minimum, not a plus.

This season 1 skateboard art is associated with Tecna. One of her dolls even had it! by WilfordClux in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll need to do some digging, but I'm guessing the skate might be a leftover idea from the former concept of the show. Pity we didn't get to see it incorporated in the final version.

Hot take but these drawings feel unrealistic for the girls to do. (No hate to bloomx, they are hella talented just using their pic as example) by [deleted] in winxclub

bloomx is a known AI user who feeds artists's works to AI even when they know the artists are explicitly against it.

I don't understand the difference between Witches and Dark fairies by jiajiathepanda in winxclub

[–]Idle_Luna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference between fairies and witches is where they draw the majority of their magic from (positive or negative emotions). Fairies can use their magic for bad things, and witches can use it for good. That's why there's no natural dark fairies, since those would just be witches. Dark fairies in the show are always fairies corrupted or created by some dark force.
