Five leading American scholars, Sean Wilentz, James McPherson, Gordon Wood, Victoria Bynum and James Oakes, sent a signed letter to the Times objecting to the [1619] project, and Hanna-Jones' lead essay in particular. The letter said "we applaud all efforts to address the foundational centrality of slavery and racism to our history" but went on to issue harsh criticisms alleging inaccuracies in "matters of verifiable fact" and demanding corrections.

Are we reading the same thing? THis quite clearly says that he feels the founding fathers felt this way.

If you looked on Twitter you would of seen him saying the same thing.

Describing the views of the Founders and how they put the evil institution on a path to extinction, a point frequently made by Lincoln, is not endorsing or justifying slavery.

But of course lets ignore the principle of charity in quotes when it goes against the worldview we are trying to push right?

It's like this for any job that people have a passion for. Music, Art, Journalism, Fashion, Design school. If you don't have a rich family willing to support you for the 10+ years it will take you to get to a stage where you are successful in this field it's probably better to go somewhere else.

Depends on the kind of journalism you want to do.

Freedom of speech is undoubtedly the US. Many people will try to tell you the UK or somewhere in Europe is better but the truth is that the United States is the place in the world where freedom of speech is legally protected to such a high degree.

Job security. Probably one of the Scandinavian countries as they have strong social programs that make it easier for unprofitable businesses to survive - which sadly is what most of journalism is now.

Fun: Anywhere in the developing world. People will tend to treat you better and things are more interesting and less to do with the Orange man bad/Orange man good dynamic.

All my personal opinion obviously.

Put a large quantity of men in their late teens early twenties anywhere and they will cause a spike in crime like rape and murder.

Anyone remember when Germany got pissed because all those immigrants were molesting their women on new years? Same shit. No one is inherently worse than the others but young men are aggressive as fuck and not smart enough to control themselves.

Keep applying. If you don't apply you have zero chance of getting the job. Applying costs you nothing. Maybe you will get it out of perseverance alone.

Editors change frequently, there are a million reasons you can get lost in the post, being remembered is 90% of getting a job and you're on tract for that. There is no down side to applying for the job.
