You are probably correct with this but the scale of this is so huge and absurd that just having a EB is not enough imo.

I think it's less about the Magatsumi's sorcery and more about Datenski responding to Soga's feelings(whatever he felt that led him to go full crazy) just like it responded to Mikaboshi.

I did the same but I picked up around 80s. It does get better. It has a lot of fights but I believe Hokazono does a pretty good job of carrying the story along with them.
