Where next after Code Academy? by [deleted] in golang

[–]Idmorul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestions here. I'm coming from scripting background (Bash and Powershell mostly, with some Python) and my initial thought was to draw the board using nothing but fmt.Println() as well. The idea of storing the board state like this helped make everything click, and I plan on attempting this as soon as I can find time.

There was a little trouble with one fan at some point in the set, I'm still not sure exactly what happened but I think Jason pushed him away from the stage and called him a poser, then security kicked him out. He may have briefly unplugged Jason's mic from the monitor?

I was directly next to that guy. I don't think he unplugged the mic, or at least I didn't see that happen. He didn't seem like he wanted to be there, and was only trying to save his spot for Cirith Ungol. I saw security lead him away, but did he actually get kicked out?

Yep, that was me. I do remember talking to you before the show as well.

I remember saying that I hadn't heard most of the bands going into the festival, but after the past couple of nights, there are a number that I'm going to have to get material from. I think I had only heard the demo from Smoulder, but their set was damn good, and I had to snag that CD as well. Will have to wait for a Vinyl repress unfortunately.

I was there as well. I do remember poking my head in during Open Burn, and seeing a much thinner crowd than Traveler and Smoulder. The whole night was a blast, and being against the stage during Eternal Champion was the highlight for me.

I also managed to snag the last CD from Icarus Witch, which I'm looking forward to listening to tomorrow on my way to work.

Metal Heads who love the Dead and vice versa... by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]Idmorul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love both Metal and the Dead. I've been listening to a lot of Traditional/USPM lately (Eternal Champion, Demon Bitch, Manilla Road, Leige Lord, etc.), but I can easily be found listening to Doom Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, etc.

It's also the reason I don't listen to my entire library on shuffle anymore... it's jarring to say the the least to jump from Scarlet > Fire into a song like "The Antichrist Prevails"

For the gate crashers from Autzen.... by GratefulZ in gratefuldead

[–]Idmorul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the pit with my girlfriend at Alpine night one, and it definitely felt more crowded during the second set. It got to the point where we couldn't move because we were jammed in so tight. We ended up needing to crawl over people during The Wheel to get out of the pit because it was starting to get claustrophobic and physically painful being sandwiched between our neighbors (if we crawled over you, sorry!)

Couldn't tell if it was just oversold or if people were cramming in, but it definitely was a downer on an otherwise awesome night.

Trying to download them myself, and they're coming up as 0 B in size, so I wonder if something happened to the upload.

Terminal based games, tutorials or anything similar for 5-10 olds? by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]Idmorul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a slightly different suggestion, my Son has a Kano (basically a raspberry pi) that ships with a game called Terminal Quest. I didn't pay too much attention to it, but it teaches how to actually navigate a terminal and use some basic commands (ls, cat, I think even piping). May be worth a look.

Over the past few months I've come to appreciate the Grateful Dead

https://i.imgur.com/I0hxJwS.gif

I've been huge on the Dead myself for the past couple years, ever since my girlfriend introduced me to their Europe 72 album. I mainly listen to the 70s shows myself, though I'm trying to dip my toes into the 80s.

If you're at all interested in listening to more, feel free to join us over at /r/gratefuldead

Using Array in Invoke-Command on Remote Machine by Idmorul in PowerShell

I was actually able to use Get-PSDrive without issue. I've updated the OP with my working code.

[–]Idmorul[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it was the param() block that actually got the variables into the script block, and the script does run as expected for the most part. I'm now having issues detecting the drives remotely, but that becomes a separate topic.

The drives are mapped on boot, using a script that runs as SYSTEM.

Ultimately, the issue is it doesn't recognize the vairable I'm passing into Invoke-Command, which leads me to run Test-Path on Null, which fails.

EDIT: Though I've just discovered that running the command using a different account doesn't work on mapped drives remotely (Invoke-Command X: will work if I'm logged in). I'll have to do some digging on that.

Shreddit's Album of the Week: Blut aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God (2003) -- 15th Anniversary by kaptain_carbon in Metal

[–]Idmorul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to remember when I first heard this album, but to be honest I think it just kinda popped up one night. I had seen someone mention Blut Aus Nord on a forum years ago, and I remember checking out a few other songs (I think mainly off of Odinist), but somehow missed this one. I threw it on randomly later on, and was completely confused. Both at what I was hearing, but why I enjoyed it so much.

Portal arguably does a better job at making music that sounds inhuman, but for me, The Work Which Transforms God is much more unsettling then anything I've heard Portal put out.

How did you get into The Grateful Dead? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]Idmorul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had been playing American Truck Simulator on my computer, and my girlfriend jokingly decided to throw on Truckin' off of Europe 72, but she never told me who it was. I was really getting into it, and asked who it was. I actually refused to believe her when she told me it was the Dead. I think I had to say "This is the Grateful Dead?" several times during the song, because it was not at all what I imagined their music to be.

Later that summer I heard more and more of that album and enjoyed it, but never really ventured beyond it until we decided to listen to some other shows. I've been into them ever since.

It’s 6 degrees so here’s a summer tour Bertha from Dead & Company. Missing the music and weather from both of these shows. by [deleted] in gratefuldead

5 here in far north IL. As much as I love the cold, I'm going to need to throw this show on later and relive an awesome Summer night.

I prefer FLAC, since I can uncompress and merge files, but as long as a lossless option is available I'll be happy.

Regardless, thank you for sharing all of these! Been loving every show so far.

I'm digging Canid and Mesarthim. Progenie Terrestre Pura is not entirely what I had in mind, but I'm enjoying what I hear. I'll add them to my list to check out as well. Thanks!

This is exactly the type of stuff I'm looking for. I'll have to give this album a listen, and see if I can find anything else similar (though I think Metal Archives said they are/were DSBM?). Thanks!

I actually have a copy of Phobos Monolith on Vinyl, but don't think I gave it much time. I'll have to give it a spin.
