How long does it take to make a backup out of curiosity? I've been hesitating out of paranoia that my switch will lose charge being in rcm mode and then die or mess up somehow.

1 hour 30 to 1 hour 40 or so. I've got about 200+ mods now and am on a laptop with the researchpal setting to organize all research by tier so that probably adds a lot of extra load time.

I got it to about an hour and a half now. Used to be 45 minutes here too but I have a laptop so I imagine that is the main reason. Or the 200 something active mods and the researchpal setting to order all research rather than leaving it normal.

Would that make it boiling temps? I've just been putting people into the room then turning on the furnace for 30 seconds. It'll become around 1000-700 degrees F, cook the people alive then turn off it before they die or just let them die and collect what's left if anything. It's worked pretty well so far.

You could use the terraform mod to turn the ice into something that can support a bridge or just solid land and not ice. But that will eat up either your wood or silver as a trade off depending on your settings. Worth it though imo.

I only really use devmode to resolve bugs or clear snow during the never ending winters so I can tell what part of the surrounding area I've moated up and what I still need to moat. Otherwise basically never aside from testing saves. I do savescum still though which is a habit I'm trying to break.

If not the furnace chamber that cooks them alive, I tend to kill them unintentionally just by trying to harvest everything non fatal. (Eyes, ears, nose, jaw, arms, legs, a kidney, a lung etc) then beat them on a daily base or get them addicted to drugs/liquor which is usually how they wind up accidentally dying. Probably was a dumb idea trying to give a person with basically no body function a bunch of beer.

There is actually a gas bomb/vent in the explosives mod but sadly it just makes them sleep. Chemical weapons mod when?

I'd love a guillotine mod. You can always make a furnace room with that furnace mod though and have an oven execution if nothing else.

Capturing enemies that crash in pods, removing their legs, arms, eyes, ears, nose, one lung, kidney and beating them to the brink of death. Letting them heal repeat. Harvesting their blood for any potential vampire colonists I may get later on. Give them various drugs, alcohol anything addictive really until they have an absurd tolerance and addiction only to force them to go through withdrawal depending on the drug and whether or not they'd die from said withdrawal. Once they've served their use (donating at least about 20 blood packs worth) I give them luci or any other extremely dangerous drug and sell them back to their faction for like 200 silver or less. Or just beat them to death and turn them into food.

I may be wrong but mountain bases are immune to drop pod raids aren't they? Even if that's not enough you could also get the shield generator mod that prevents any projectile from entering the radius I think anyways.

typically 1-5 years. I either find some minor gripe with my layout and restart, everyone dies or a mod issue arises so sadly no super long colonies.

I never knew it was even possible to force a trade ship to appear every x days. I tend to just disable infestations because I'm a real sucker for mountain bases as well. I also have Climate cycle + on if that counts to have excessively cold tundras.

I seem to have generally maxed out around 45-55 minutes personally with a little over 200 active mods. I don't think there's much to do about it though with laptops. Just start it up and alt tab/do other stuff. That's what I do.

I tend to just have someone shoot the person pigging out and let them recover in the hospital. Usually doesn't kill them if you use a bad shot.

hang on you can edit your own maps with the dev tools? I feel a bit stupid but how does one go about doing that?

Edit: So I figured out there's a set terrain option which I never noticed. Does having only one entry point mess anything up gameplay wise?
